International Management Institute (IMI) New Delhi, one of the premier B-schools of India has revised CAT 2017 cut offs to 88 percentile from earlier 90 to promote academic and gender diversity in its class rooms. The highly ranked Corporate Sponsored B-school has announced the shortlist in a ratio of 1:12 for final selection round for all the three PGDM 2018-20 programmes. The PI round for final admission at IMI New Delhi begins on February 7, 2018 and will be over on March 18.

25% increase in number of applicants
There has been an overwhelming response from the applicants seeking admission in IMI New Delhi. Responding to MBAUniverse.com query, Dr Shailendra Nigam, Admission Chair at IMI New Delhi has shared, “Very well response of the applicants for PGDM 2018-20 batch, there is an increase of 25% from last year.”

It may be noted that IMI New Delhi accepts only CAT and GMAT scores for admission to its PGDM programmes. The application process at IMI New Delhi was closed on January 21. As such a 25% increase reflects the rising popularity of the management programmes offered by IMI New Delhi.

Shortlist Ratio1:12 for 360 seats
IMI New Delhi has shortlisted the candidates in a ratio of 1:12 candidates. It implies that one of the 12 candidates would be finally selected for admission to IMI New Delhi. In case few of the candidates opt for other B-schools the admission chances may brighten up.

The programme wise intake and number of candidates shortlisted for each programme in the said ratio can be arrived at as under:

Shortlisting Criteria
Apart from written exam scores, IMI New Delhi has considered following key parameters in shortlisting:

  • Overall CAT percentile
  •  Academic profile. Marks in Class 10, 12 and graduation are taken into account.
  • Work Experience, if any is also given due weightage. 

Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be called for the final stage of the selection process. IMI New Delhi has further clarified that  that mere fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria may not ensure consideration for shortlisting by IMI, New Delhi.  IMI, New Delhi will not entertain any correspondence on this subject and decisions of the IMI Admissions Committee will be final in all matters

Cut offs Revised for PGDM Programmes
IMI New Delhi has reduced the CAT 2017 percentile cut offs in its shortlisting for admission 2018. With a view to encourage more non-engineers and girl candidates to pursue management courses in line with the policy of top IIMs, IMI New Delhi appears to have brought down the cut off in shortlisting for final selection round.

According to Dr Nigam Admission chair IMI New Delhi, “Shortlisting for final admission round has been done today on January 31 in a ratio of 1:12 and the cut off for shortlisting is  88 percentile for  PGDM  and  85 for PGD-HRM and PGDM –BFS.”

It may be recalled that IIM Ahmedabad has also shortlisted 182 candidates below 90 percentile to improve academic diversity in its class rooms in the PGP 2018-20 batch. IMI New Delhi has not lagged behind and has taken care to reduce the cut offs substantially to achieve the goal.

Components of final selection round and time lines
Final admission round at International Management Institute (IMI) begins on February 7, 2018 and will be over on March 18.

The PI round at IMI Delhi will have following components and the candidates are required to give their best in each of them to get admission in IMI New Delhi:

  1. Essay Writing (Writing Ability Test)
  2. Psychometric Test
  3. Extempore Speaking
  4. Personal Interview

Apart from above, other qualitative parameters are included as core components of the selection process.  

PI Round in 15 Cities
IMI New Delhi will conduct the final selection process in 15 cities across the country. These centres are:

Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune and Varanasi.

Candidates were given the opportunity to indicate their first and second preference of interview center in the application form. If a candidate’s preferred center is not allotted, for any reason, the candidate is informed of the change. IMI reserves the right to change any of the centers for the selection process, without assigning any reasons.

Final Admission Result: April 2nd week
IMI New Delhi proposes to announce the final result for admission to its various PGDM programmes in second week of April 2018.

PGDM course Fee
For all the three PGDM programmes the course fee for 2018-20 at IMI New Delhi is Rs.15.41 lakhs.
