IIM Nagpur commences Admission 2018: Lowers CAT cut off, awards weight to other parameters; Reconfirm interest by April 20

Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur has commenced admission process 2018 and has announced lower sectional cut offs at 72 percentile as against 80 last year. The B-school has invited the eligible CAT 2017 test takers to apply and reconfirm their interest in admissions to its PGP 2018-20 batch. The admission process by expressing the interest in IIM Nagpur starts on April 15 and the last date to apply is April 20, 2018.

Only those candidates who had opted for the admission at the time of completing their CAT 2017 registration form are eligible to apply and if shortlisted, they can participate in the IIM Nagpur admission process.

Expression of interest in IIM Nagpur: Mandatory for admission
Even if you opted to study at IIM Nagpur at the time of registering and applying for CAT 2017, the IIM Nagpur admission process requires you to reconfirm your interest. If you meet the cut offs prescribed by IIM Nagpur for admission 2018, you can submit your ‘confirmation of interest’ till April 20, by checking your status whether you are eligible to re-confirm your interest for admission at IIM Nagpur on its website:

IIM Nagpur Shortlist 2018
IIM Nagpur Shortlist message will be received immediately after you re-confirm your interest. Further IIM Nagpur will send you an e-mail in case you are shortlisted for final selection round. Following message will be received by you after expression of interest to IIM Nagpur admission 2018, “ You have reconfirmed your candidature further for the stage 2 of the admission process of PGP 2018-20 batch at IIM Nagpur. If you are shortlisted for stage 3 you will receive an email from us.”

Timelines for the Admissions Process for PGP 2018-20 Programme at IIM Nagpur

IIM Nagpur not participating in CAP 2018
One of the key changes in the admission process for 2018 adopted by IIM Nagpur is that it has announced to conduct its own PI/WAT round by following the admission policy of IIM Ahmedabad. Till last year IIM Nagpur followed a simple and liberal admission policy with no GD-PI-WAT.  

Unlike its peers, IIM Nagpur is not participating in the Common Admission Process (CAP) 2018 being conducted for 9 new IIMs.

IIM Nagpur Cut Off
IIM Nagpur has announced lower minimum required CAT 2017 sectional cut off percentile to shortlist the candidates for final selection round and has reduced it to 72 this year from 80 last year. The CAT 2017 score is the single criterion used as the basis for arriving at the short-list at IIM Nagpur. Only candidates with positive scores in all sections of the CAT 2017 exam will be considered for the admission process.

VARC=Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension,  DILR=Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning;  QA=Quantitative Ability

Please note that these cut-offs are not for admission offers whose scores could be much higher.

IIM Nagpur Fees Structure
IIM Nagpur fee for PGP 2018-20 course has been increased to Rs.11.5 lakhs as against Rs.10 lakhs last year.

IIM Nagpur Final Placements
IIM Nagpur has successfully concluded the Final Placement 2018 after achieving 100% placement for its second batch. The Placement season 2018 at IIM Nagpur has witnessed highest salary of Rs.19 lakhs in the second batch of flagship PGP 2016-18 programme.

The placement process for IIM Nagpur witnessed 40 recruiters, including many first time participants in the placement process. The placement 2018 at IIM Nagpur saw participation from sectors like FMCG, Analytics, IT Consulting, BFSI and Logistics among others.

IIM Nagpur Average Package in Placement 2018 stood at Rs.12.05 lakhs. The average package offered for the top quartile of the batch was Rs.16.08 lacs, and the median package for the same group was Rs.15.40 lacs. The median of top quartile, according to IIM Nagpur has increased by 14% as compared to last year & offers in IT sector have increased by 28%. Marketing, consulting, and analytics, were the most sought after roles, closely followed by finance, and operations, among students.

Prominent recruiters in IIM Nagpur final Placement 2018 included VLCC, Yes Bank, ICICI Lombard, JK Technosoft, TechAspect, Fractal Analytics, Larsen & Toubro, Value Labs, Bajaj Allianz, SBI Funds, IndiaMart, Infosys BPM, DTDC, 4Tigo among others.

PGP Intake
As of now IIM Nagpur has an intake of 60 students out of which 28 seats are available for General candidates and rest 32 are divided among different reserved categories. However, it is expected that IIM Nagpur may revise its intake upwards.

According to IIM Nagpur, ‘The batch size will be 60 students. The intake might be revised before the admission process begins. In such a scenario, appropriate changes will be made based on the revised intake.’

Low weightage to CAT score: Academics, Work-Ex counted in shortlisting
For admission 2018 at IIM Nagpur, you will be given due weightage for your academic profile, work experience, diversity to arrive at the composite score to shortlist you for final selection round which comprises Personal Interview and Writing Ability Test.

Following weightage will be given to different components by IIM Nagpur to arrive at Composite Score (CS) to shortlist you for final admission round:

Comprehensive Score (CS)
A Comprehensive Score (CS) based on the CAT Performance (CP), Academic performance (PAP), Work Experience (WE) and Diversity (Di) scores will be calculated as follows:

CS=0.35 * (CP Score) + 0.40*(PAP Score) + 0.2* (WE Score) + 0.05*(Di Score)

Based on the comprehensive score (CS), a shortlist will be prepared. The shortlisted candidates after submitting the ‘reconfirmation of interest’ will be receiving an email from IIM Nagpur. The candidates will then need to submit a detailed application, including details of semester wise / year wise marks in Bachelors' degree etc., copies of all mark sheets, copies of work experience certificates (if applicable), certificate of disability (if applicable), scheduled caste / scheduled tribe / other backward class — non-creamy layer certificate (if applicable). Only those candidates who submit the detailed application by the stipulated date will be considered for the next stage of the admission process.

Final admission offer
In Final Selection round at IIM Nagpur, CAT score gets only 20% weight while the Academics & Work Experience as well as PI & WAT will be awarded 40% weight each. After completion of WAT and PI process at IIM Nagpur, candidates will receive the admission offer.  Final Score (FS) of the candidate will be calculated as follows:

The selected candidates will receive provisional admission intimation by e-mail. To confirm the acceptance of the offer, the selected candidate has to pay an acceptance fee of Rs. 50,000 which will be adjusted towards Term-I fees subsequently.

IIM Nagpur started operation in 2015 with an announced batch size of 60 students. The 2018-20 batch will be the 4^th batch of IIM Nagpur. Faculty member of IIM Ahmedabad are teaching at IIM Nagpur.
