Candidates have the option of either applying to Great Lakes, Chennai and Great Lakes, Gurgaon campuses separately or for both the campuses through the common application form

Great Lakes Admission Eligibility Criteria
Great Lakes Institute of Management offers its flagship 1 year full time residential Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) as well as 2 Years full time Post graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM). Both the programmes are approved and highly ranked. However, based on their duration, curriculum structure, industry requirement among other factors, the admission eligibility criteria for both the programmes differ:

One Year PGPM: Admission Eligibility

  1. All PGPM 2019 applicants are required to appear or have appeared for CAT 2017/ 2018; XAT 2018/2019; CMAT 2018 or GMAT (Taken after January 2016) before applying to Great Lakes Institute of Management
  2. Great Lakes eligibility criteria require that the candidate must hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized institution
  3. A minimum work experience of two years by March 31, 2019 is mandatory and candidates found not fulfilling this criteria will not be admitted.
  4. Candidates with less than 24 months of work experience by March 31, 2019 can apply to the Great Lakes 2 years PGDM Program but not to the 1 year PGPM programme
  5. Great Lakes uses CAT/XAT scores only for screening applications for admissions and IIMs/XLRI have no role in the conduct of Great Lakes academic programs.
  6. Application for Admission through first cycle should be submitted latest by November 30, 2018

Two Years PGDM: Admission Eligibility

  1. All PGDM applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized institution
  2. Candidates appearing for the final year bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply for Great Lakes Admission for PGDM 2019-21 Batch 
  3. It is mandatory for a final year student, who is provisionally considered eligible by Great Lakes Institute of Management and offered admission, to submit the mark-sheet and degree certificate of the final year bachelor's degree examination held on or before June 30, 2019 at a later date as decided by Great Lakes.
  4. Only Fresh Graduates and candidates with less than 24 months of work experience after graduation as on 30th June 2019 are eligible to apply. Candidates with greater than 24 months of work- experience should apply for the Great lakes one year PGPM program.
  5. Internship or part time work experience is not considered. Only full time work experience is considered. However, full time work experience as an entrepreneur or in family business will be taken into account.
  6. All PGDM applicants are required to appear for GMAT/CAT/XAT /CMAT before applying to Great Lakes Institute of Management.
  7. For PGDM 2019, Great Lakes Institute of Management will accept CAT scores of years 2017/ 2018 or XAT scores of years 2018/ 2019 or GMAT scores taken after Jan 1, 2017 or CMAT scores of the year 2018/ 2019.
  8. Great Lakes uses CAT/XAT scores only for screening applications for admissions and IIMs/XLRI have no role in the conduct of Great Lakes academic programs.
  9. Great Lakes awards a special preference for College / University rank holders. The onus of proof of rank is vested in the applicant.
  10. Application deadline for admission to PGDM 2019-21 batch is February 25, 2019

Great Lakes Institute of Management Admission Criteria
Admission Criteria 2019 at Great Lakes Institute of Management will be a two step process involving the Shortlisting criteria and the Final admission selection Criteria

  1. Shortlisting Criteria
    The first part of Great Lakes Institute of management Admission criteria is the shortlisting criteria before final selection round. Great Lakes will shortlist the candidates on the basis of following parameters:

  • Great Lakes Institute of Management will consider aggregate scores and not the sectional scores of the applicants in the acceptable entrance exams for shortlisting.
  • In case more than one exams are taken by the applicant, Great Lakes will short-list the candidates for the interview based on their best available test scores in CAT/XAT/ CMAT/GMAT
  • Academic profile also plays an important role in shortlisting. Candidates with consistent academic background and a demonstrated ability to sustain pressure will make the shortlist.
  1. Final Admission Selection Round Criteria

  • Post short-listing on the basis of available scores, applicants will be called for the final selection round (PI Round) at the designated centres
  • The aptitude test scores are important at the interview shortlisting stage but have limited weightage as far as the final selection is concerned.
  • Performance in Personal Interview (PI) will be awarded high weightage in final selection criteria.
  • The evaluation criteria in final selection will also award weightage to Analytical Writing Test (AWT) to assess the written communication skills and the thought process of the candidates.
  • There will be No GD Round
  • Evaluation Criteria in Great Lakes Final Selection will also involve the quality of work experience, professional and personal achievements, demonstrated leadership and team skills, aptitude and attitude.
  • Excellent Academic Scores will be awarded due weightage in final selection round at Great lakes.
  • Candidates who have exhibited leadership skills at work and/or in school/college will be awarded due weightage in the final selection round of Great Lakes.
  • Integrity and Ethical Values including originality play important role in final selection criteria at Great Lakes. Candidates found lacking these qualities will not be selected irrespective of their performance in other areas.
  • Final Admission offer at Great Lakes will be based on GMAT/CAT/XAT/CMAT scores, past academic performance, essay writing test, work experience and performance in the interview

Admission Process for PGPM 2019 and PGDM 2019-21
Following steps are included in the Great Lakes Admission process. However, Applicants should ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria, have appeared or have registered for the required CAT/XAT/CMAT/GMAT exam, the scores of which are accepted by Great Lakes for Admission:

Step 1: Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria can apply to Great Lakes Institute of Management by completing the online admission application form at Great Lakes website. The last date to apply for PGPM 2019 Cycle-1 is November 30, 2018, for Cycle-2 the last date to apply is January 24, 2019 and for PGDM 2019-21 it is February 25, 2019.

Step 2: Candidates can apply through one of the modes - by filling in the common online application form at Great Lakes website after making a payment of INR 2,000 or make a payment of INR 2,000 at IMS centers and procure a coded number key for applying online or Purchase the application form from the Great Lakes Offices in Chennai. However, the eventual application process is online for all candidates.

Step 3: To apply for PGPM 2019 at Great Lakes, the candidates have to provide the official email-id of the recommender. The recommendation letter will be collected from the finally selected students' recommenders and it must be submitted online

Step 4: Candidates are short-listed for Personal Interview (PI) and Analytical Writing Test (AWT) from among the eligible candidates who have a valid entrance exam score and have applied to the programme of Great Lakes Institute of Management. The Personal Interview process will be conducted in the month of March 2019 at Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai.

Step 5: After the PI round, admission offers are made by Great Lakes Institute of Management to successful candidates. The final selection is based on a diverse set of attributes which includes performance in entrance exam, performance in PI round, academics, Quality of Work Experience, Leadership skills among others.
