IIFT Placement 2019: Average Salary Up at Rs.20.07 Lakhs; Highest Salary Rs.1 Crore – First B-school to Conclude Final Placement

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade has emerged as the first and the fastest premier B-School in the country to complete final Placements 2019 for the graduating batch 2017-19 of its flagship MBA (International Business) programme keeping intact the 100% placement record. Average salary for the large batch of 279 students has gone upto Rs.20.07 lakhs in Placement 2019 from Rs. 19.23 lakhs last year. International salary is up at Rs. 1 Crore

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) with its campuses at Delhi, Kolkata and Kakinada has emerged as the first and the fastest premier B-School in the country to complete final Placements 2019 for the graduating batch 2017-19 of its flagship MBA (International Business) programme keeping intact the 100% placement record.

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has concluded Placement 2019 for a large batch of 279 students with higher average salary, more international offers carving a new position in the global scenario. Average salary in IIFT Placement 2019 has gone up at Rs.20.07 lakhs

Speaking on the fastest and successful placement season 2019, Prof. Manoj Pant, Director, IIFT said “The quality of our students, the academic rigour and the premium we place on cultivating relationships with our recruiters are the reasons behind this continued success.”

The Placement 2019 has concluded even before the IIFT entrance exam 2018 result declaration for admission to MBA (IB) 2019-21 batch.

The large batch size of 279 participating students in placement was quickly absorbed by 98 leading recruiters from India and abroad.

IIFT Breaks its Own Record in Final Placements 
One of the key features in the Placement 2019 at IIFT is that earlier the final placements at this coveted institute used to be completed in the months of February/March and this is probably the first time that the final placements 2019 are over in December 2018.

Final Placements 2019: Over Before Entrance Exam Result
Going by the past trends IIFT entrance exam result was announced in the last week of December and the placements were concluded one or two months later. However, for Placement 2019, the pattern is changed and the placements are over before the IIFT result declaration. It is expected that the result for IIFT 2018 entrance exam which was held on December 2, 2018 is to be declared on December 28 or 29.

The median compensation for the placement 2019 also rose to 18 LPA from 17LPA. The highest salary offered overall crossed Rs. 1 crore with several students receiving compensations of over Rs. 75 LPA.

The batch size for placement 2017-19 constituted 279 students as against 288 students in placement 2018. The batch size had 258 students in 2017; 254 students in 2016 and 219 in 2015. IIFT Placement 2019 witnessed 32 first time recruiters. They included Aegis Resources, Axtria, Bata, DE Shaw Group, Epik InDiFi, Enhance Group, Export Trading Group, Fermenta Biotech, Field Fresh Foods, Go-MMT, HomeCredit, Lenskart, United Health Group, Paytm, Polycab, Rivigo, Roland Berger, Samunnati Finance, Tata Global Beverages, Tresvista Financial Services and Zomato. GE Healthcare opened its coveted Commercial Leadership Program for the first time.

IIFT students received offers from across all the sectors and domain at higher compensation packages as is evident with the conclusion of the Placement 2019 season so early at IIFT.

Trade & International Business
True to its education domain of MBA (IB), IIFT achieved new milestones in International Placements. Not only this, IIFT outdid itself in its niche of Trade and International Business with recruiters like African Industries Group, ADM, Aegis Resources, Export Trading Group, Olam International, Tolaram, Trafigura,  participating in the recruitment process and offering positions across Africa, Middle East and South-East Asia.

Consulting
In the Consulting domain, top-tier strategy consulting firm Roland Berger visited campus for the first time and made multiple offers for front-end roles.

Bain Capability Center, Cognizant Business Consulting, Deloitte, Infosys Management Consulting, i3 Consulting and KPMG were among the major recruiters that offered consulting roles

General Management & Strategy
Companies like Airtel, Murugappa Group and Fermenta Biotech offered positions in General Management and Strategy.

Finance

IIFT Placements: Past Trends

Placement 2018
Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has concluded Placement 2018 with 55% more international offers. Carving a new position in the global scenario, four IIFT students received a package of USD 150,000 (Rs 1 crore) per annum along with another layer of compensation of USD 80,000 (Rs.53 lakhs) being offered to 7 IIFT students. Average salary in IIFT Placement 2018 has gone upto Rs.19.23 lakhs

While 110 companies had confirmed their participation, the placements were wrapped up with 94 recruiters, as such 16 recruiters could not get the opportunity to participate in placements.

35 companies were the first time recruiters at IIFT. These recruiters included prominent brands like Arcesium, Avendus Capital, BMW, CP group, Deloitte USI (S&O) EXL, PepsiCo, Tech Mahindra, YES Bank amongst others.

55% Jump in International offers
A total of 31 students are placed in 2018 in International Business roles in South America, Thailand, Africa and South-East countries with top notch recruiters recording a splendid 55% jump from the preceding year as 20 students were offered international roles in 2017.

The difference after conversion to Indian Rupees is due to exchange rate fluctuations. U S Dollar in terms of Indian Rupee stands at less than Rs.66 in 2018. It was at Rs.67 in 2017.

IIFT continued to witness impressive international offers. While Olam, TGI, AluZinc, ADM and Phoenix Commodities visited IIFT for their coveted Trade roles under their esteemed Management Trainee programs, placing students across various parts of Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia; the CP Group based out of Thailand recruited for its Future Leaders Program (FLP) for their various business verticals across all domains.

British Telecom, DBS, Godrej, Hero MotoCorp, Mother Dairy, Shapoorji Pallonji, TetraPak and TVS Motors recruited students for various domains in their International Business streams.

The average compensation offered to the IIFT students is INR 19.23 LPA per annum, with the domestic average standing at INR 18.27 LPA. The highest domestic compensation offered witnessed a rise from INR 26 LPA last year to INR 29 LPA.

Of the total batch strength of 288, IIFT saw an increase of 29.10% in the number of Pre-Placement Offers. Total of 93 PPOs were made in comparison to 74 last year reaffirming the recruiters’ faith in the talent and hard work of the candidates at IIFT.

The average compensation for the batch of 2015-17 grew to INR 18.41 LPA as compared to INR 18.01 LPA
