The admission criteria for flagship PGP 2019-21 at IIM Indore will award only 20% weightage to CAT 2018 scores and 76% weight to Class 10 & 12 marks

IIM Indore admission criteria for PGP and PGP-HRM 2019-21 award higher importance to academics and communication skills of the candidates instead of merely on CAT 2017 exam scores. The recently announced details of IIM Indore Admission Criteria 2019-21 prescribe the admission eligibility, a lower CAT 2018 cut off and low weightage for CAT score in first stage shortlisting as well as in final selection process. At the same time it has increased the weightage to academic profile in arriving at the shortlist for PI-WAT round.

The two-year Post-graduate Programme in Management (PGP) at IIM Indore is a full-time residential course for graduates from all disciplines who wish to choose a career in management. The PGP Programme at IIM Indore is highly ranked one.

Announcing its CAT 2018 cut offs at 90 percentile in CAT exam, the admission criteria for flagship PGP 2019-21 at IIM Indore will award only 20% weightage to CAT 2018 scores and 76% weight to Class 10 & 12 marks. Rest goes to other parameters in shortlisting for PI-WAT stage.

So far, among all the IIMs who have announced their admission criteria and process for the 2019-21 batch, IIM Indore is the front runner in drastically reducing the weightage to CAT 2018 exam score in its admission process. The move will attract more candidates with excellent academic profile below graduation than only focusing on the CAT 2018 scores.

IIM Indore Admission Criteria
IIM Indore Admission Criteria 2019-21 will be a three step process. The three-stages of selection criteria are:

  1.  Eligibility criteria
  2.  Shortlisting Criteria for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI)
  3. Final Admission Selection criteria

  IIM Indore Admission Eligibility

  1. IIM  Indore Eligibility criteria require that the candidate must hold a bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years duration after class 12, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (in case of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category, the eligibility criterion is relaxed to 45%
  2. One of the most important points in IIM Indore Admission Eligibility criteria is that apart from a recognized graduate degree, the candidate should appear in CAT 2018 exam and must score minimum prescribed sectional and overall score to become eligible for admission
  3. If the candidate is awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence to determine PGP admission eligibility would be based on the equivalence certified by the institution/university from where the bachelor's degree is obtained. In case the institution/university does not have any scheme for converting the CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by IIM Indore by dividing the obtained CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant by 100 to confirm the Admission eligibility of the candidate.
  4. A candidate appearing for the final year bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results is also eligible to apply for IIM Indore Admission 2019-21. Such a candidate must produce a certificate from the principal/head of the department/ registrar/director of the institution/university certifying that the candidate is currently in the final year or is awaiting final results and has obtained at least 50% marks or equivalent (45% in case of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category) based on latest available grades/marks.
  5. IIM Indore Eligibility further clarifies that such a candidate, if selected, will not be eligible for the IIM Indore admission unless he/she submits a certificate latest by June 30, 2019 from the principal/head of the department/registrar/director of the institution/university (issued on or before June 30, 2019) stating that they have completed all the requirements (the result may, however, be awaited) for obtaining the bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate.
  6. It is mandatory for a final year student, who is provisionally considered eligible by IIM Indore and offered admission, to submit the mark-sheet and degree certificate of the final year bachelor's degree examination held on or before June 30, 2019.  The deadline to submit the mark-sheet and the certificate is December 31, 2019.
