SJMSOM-IIT Bombay has announced to award 80% weight to CAT 2018 scores in shortlisting and 37.5% weightage in making final admission offer. Apart from CAT 2018 scores, SJMSOM-IIT Bombay will consider the academic profile, work experience in arriving at the shortlist and final admission offer along with the diversity.

How to Apply at SJMSOM-IIT Bombay: Last Date Jan 27, 2019
Apart from appearing in CAT 2018 and scoring a minimum percentile in the exam, all the applicants have to apply for admission to MBA at SJMSOM-IIT Bombay separately by paying an application fee of Rs.1600/-.

After the CAT 2018 results declared on January 5, 2019, SJMSOM-IIT Bombay  has opened the application process for admission. The applicants are required to complete the online application form which is available from January 7, 2019 on the website of the B-school. The last date for filling the form is January 27, 2019.

Key Points in SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Application Process

  1. The candidates should fill all the mandatory details in one go, otherwise the data will be lost as the session expires in 50 minutes.
  2. The candidates should be fully prepared with all the relevant information/data before starting to fill the Online Application form.
  3. The data can be edited any time before the final submission of the form
  4. You may download the online application format from the IIT Bombay website for your reference. Compile all the relevant data required to fill it up, and then proceed to fill up and submit it your online application.
  5. Use the latest versions of Chrome or Firefox to fill up the application form.
  6. An application fee of Rs.1600/- is to be paid online

SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Admission Eligibility

  1. A Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree with at least 60% marks (55% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category) or a minimum CPI of 6.5 (6 in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category) out of 10 from the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
  2. The bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of 4 years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
  3. Applicants appearing for final year of the degree and those who have completed the degree requirements and awaiting results can also apply. The applicant should have secured an aggregate of 60% marks (55% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category) or equivalent till the latest exam that has been completed and whose scores are available.
  4. CA/ICWA, with a first-class Bachelor’s degree in any discipline having secured 60% marks (55% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category) in aggregate (including all years/semesters) or a minimum CPI of 6.5 (6 in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category) out of 10.
  5. The candidate should appear in CAT 2018 exam and must score minimum prescribed sectional and overall score to become eligible for admission

SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Admission Criteria
SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Admission Criteria 2019 is a two step process involving the preliminary screening and shortlisting criteria with  80% weightage for CAT exam score and the Final admission selection Criteria with only 37.5% weightage to CAT exam score.

  1. SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Shortlisting Criteria
    The first part of SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Admission criteria is the shortlisting criteria before final selection round. SJMSOM-IIT Bombay will shortlist the candidates on the basis of CAT 2018 score, past academic performance, and other criteria as under:
  • The 1st stage of shortlisting in SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Admission Criteria awards 80% weight to CAT 2018 score, 12% weight to Academics, 3% to Gender Diversity and 5% to Work Experience
  • The candidate must have scored minimum sectional percentile of 80 in each of the three sections of CAT 2018 – Quantitative Aptitude' (QA), ‘Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning' (DILR) and ‘Verbal and Reading Comprehension' (VRC)
  • A candidate must have scored minimum overall percentile of 90 in CAT 2018
  • If the candidate does not score minimum prescribed percentile in CAT 2018, he/she will not be considered for shortlisting for final selection stage.
  • All the shortlisted candidates will be invited to appear for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) between 7th to 10th March, 2019.
  • Shortlisted candidates are required to book the slots for WAT and PI as soon as the shortlist is released.

SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Admission Cut Off  
SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Cut off 2019 has been liberalised for MBA admission 2019. Only the candidates above the minimum cut-offs in the CAT 2018 sectional percentile ranks, the overall percentile rank and obtaining a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of CAT-2018 will be considered for all the subsequent stages.

SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Admission Process
Following steps are included in the SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Admission process:

  • Step 1: The candidate must have applied, appeared and scored the minimum required sectional and overall percentile in CAT 2018 to be considered for first stage screening process for admission at SJMSOM-IIT Bombay
  • Step 2: Candidate must apply for MBA Admission 2019 at SJMSOM-IIT Bombay latest by January 27, 2019
  • Step 3: Candidates are short-listed for Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) from among the candidates who have a valid CAT-2018 score, who have applied for admission to SJMSOM-IIT Bombay and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme of  SJMSOM-IIT Bombay   
  • Step 4: The WAT & PI will be held from March 7 to 10, 2019 for domestic candidates. For International candidates the WA & PI will be held thereafter. After the WAT & PI round, admission offers are made by SJMSOM-IIT Bombay to  successful candidates. The final selection is based on a diverse set of attributes which includes performance in CAT, performance in WAT & PI, academics, extra-curricular achievements, work experience among others
  • Step 5: Final Admission Offer will be made to the candidates in the last week of April 2019 on the basis of Final Score arrived after awarding the weightage scores on all the components.
