‘XAT 2019 to have 100 Questions, No Essay Writing this year’ – Confirms XAT exam Convener Fr Antony

Fr Antony Uvari, S J., Convener XAT 2019 and admission chair XLRI has confirmed that XAT 2019 on January 6, 2019, will have same number of 100 questions as were last year in MCQ format. There will be no descriptive Essay Writing Test in the exam from this year. The exam duration will be of three hours from 10AM to 1PM, reduced by half an hour as there is no Essay Writing Test. The Last date of Registration for XAT 2019 is November 30, 2018
XAT 2019 to have 100 Questions

Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2019 on January 6, 2019, will have same number of 100 questions as were last year in MCQ format and there will be no descriptive Essay Writing Test in the exam from this year. Responding to MBAUniverse.com whether the number of questions would go down from 100 since there is no essay writing test now, Fr Antony Uvari, S J., Convener XAT 2019 and admission chair XLRI said “The total number of question will remain the same as XAT 2018.”  The last date to apply for XAT 2019 ends on November 30, 2018 without late fee.

Since the Essay Writing Test carried maximum score of 3 marks, and was the 100th question, the scoring pattern in XAT 2019 is to award +1 mark to each correct answer and the total maximum marks for the entire XAT question paper are to remain 100, even without Essay Writing Test.

No Change in XAT Exam Difficulty Level
The difficulty level in last year XAT exam was not found very high by the test takers. XAT 2019 Convener has assured that the XAT 2019 difficulty level will also remain almost the same. Usually candidates are afraid of high difficulty level in XAT but since last two years, XLRI has made XAT a balanced exam with a mix of easy, moderate and difficult questions.

Significant Changes in XAT 2019 Exam Pattern
XLRI has revamped XAT 2019 exam pattern as under:

  • XAT 2019 pattern: Computer Based Test
  • XAT 2019 Total Questions: 100
  • XAT 2019 Question Type: All MCQs
  • XAT 2019 Sectional Division: 3 sections counted for percentile calculation. 4th GK section is excluded
  • Descriptive Test: XAT has discontinued descriptive Essay Writing Test
  • XAT 2019 Answer Options: Each MCQ is followed by 5 answer options
  • XAT 2019 Scoring Pattern: +1 Mark for Each Correct answer
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 (¼) mark deducted for wrong answer
  • Questions Without Negative Marking: GK questions are free from Negative Marking

XAT 2019 is the only exam that allows all graduates irrespective of their percentage of marks scored in bachelor’s degree to appear in the prestigious MBA entrance exam leading to admission in XLRI Jamshedpur, SPJIMR Mumbai, IMT Ghaziabad, XIM Bhubaneswar, XIME Bangalore, TAPMI Manipal among other 145 leading management institutes of India. XAT 2019: Mandatory Exam for XLRI Admission
XAT 2019 is the mandatory exam for admission to XLRI Jamshedpur. XLRI, the XAT 2019 convening authority has shared that Registration for XAT 2019 and appearing for XAT 2019 is the preliminary step towards applying to XLRI and XAT Associate Institutes. Applicants to different institutes, besides XLRI have to apply separately to Institutes of their choice.

All Indian candidates must appear for XAT 2019. However NRI and foreign candidates may apply through GMAT score.

XAT Eligibility: Only Pass in Graduation

Apply to XLRI alongwith XAT 2019
If you wish to apply to XLRI Jamshedpur you have to pay Rs.300/- per programme as the application fee along with XAT 2019 registration fee by November 30 and Rs.500/- per programme after November 30 and till December 7, 2018.

XLRI-XAT 2019 is the important national level MBA entrance exam and is gateway to more than 150 B-schools in India. Candidates scoring even low in XAT are awarded with high percentile. The biggest advantage of taking XAT 2019 will be that there are number of top B-schools who consider the scores of XAT and CAT exams and unlike IIMs no rigid sectional cut offs in XAT are considered by the B-schools accepting XAT 2019 scores.
