The TISSNET 2019 exam for TISS Mumbai was held on January 13, 2019. TISSNET 2019 comprised of 100 MCQs covering three sections that tested the General Awareness, English Proficiency, and Reasoning & Quantitative Abilities. While GK was a tough nut to crack, the other sections were relatively easy.
TISSNET Exam Analysis

The TISSNET 2019 exam for Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Mumbai was held on January 13, 2019. TISSNET 2019 was a computer-based test of 2 hours 40 minutes duration comprising 100 MCQs. The paper contained three sections 1) General Awareness (40 Questions), 2) English Proficiency & Language skills (30 Questions), and 3) Mathematical Reasoning & Quantitative Abilities (30 Questions). Except for GK, overall the paper was on the easier side.

TISS 2019 cut off for open category students is expected to be around 74-75 marks.

Analytical Ability is the Quant section of TISSNET and is clubbed with Logical Reasoning.

TISS 2019 Section wise Analysis
Let’s look at each of the three sections for exam analysis.

GK
As in past, TISSNET 2019 GK was the most difficult section of this exam. About 25 questions were from “static GK” from areas like History, Geography, Awards, Books. This is always a tough section for MBA Aspirants as this section doesn’t feature in CAT exam. The remaining 15 odd questions were from Current Affairs, Social Issues, Business and Economy. 

Mathematical Reasoning & Quantitative Ability
Overall this was a relatively easy section. There were 30 questions in this section. About 17 questions were from the Quant from areas like Ratio, Time Speed and Distance. 7 questions were from Data Interpretation, and 6 from Reasoning. DI was time consuming.

Most of the question in the Quan section were Arithmetic based. Topics like Ratio, Time Speed and Distance, Probability, Geometry, Number System etc were covered.

English Proficiency & Language Skills
This section had 30 questions. Key topics covered in this section were:

  • Two RC Passage
  • Fill in the blank questions dominated the section.
  • The grammar questions
  • Odd one out question.
  • Synonyms and Antonyms.

This was a relatively easy section.

TISSNET 2019: Cut Offs
TISSNET 2019 overall cut-off may not go down too much. It is expected that the candidates with a score of about 74-75 marks may get shortlisted by TISS for final selection round.
