IMC Journey

Prof Srikant M. Datar Arthur Lowes Dickinson Professor of Accounting at Harvard University & Author of ‘Rethinking the MBA: Business Education at a crossroad’

The Journey of IMC reflects the challenges and reorientation of Indian management education in the last decade.

After two decades of heady growth, since 2008 Indian MBA education has been facing unprecedented challenges. While there isn't an existential question on the Top-tier B-schools, they are yet to make a global impact. Stakeholders have been questioning the value of mid-tier and bottom-tier B-schools. In this backdrop, a serious platform to discuss the impact of massive changes impacting management education in India was missing. To fill this void, MBAUniverse.com conceptualized and organized first Indian Management Conclave (IMC) in 2010.

IMC Guiding Principles

  • MULTI-STAKEHOLDER PLATFORM: IMC is a multi-stakeholder platform that brings together Policy makers, Industry, Knowledge organizations and Service providers for the benefit of B-schools.
  • FACT-BASED PLATFORM: IMC is a fact-based platform, and not a podium for rhetoric. We conduct research and also invite knowledge organizations to share their analysis.
  • RESEARCH & DOCUMENT: IMC plays a role in researching and documenting best practices of Indian Management Education.
  • GLOBAL OUTLOOK: In a global world, there is no place for jingoism. B-schools must compete to excel or perish. IMC invites global thinkers and international organizations to share global best-practices.

IMC Key Initiatives
To meet the objectives, IMC Conference has evolved into following initiatives:

  1. IMC Conference: Platform for global thinkers, policy makers, CXOs and top B-school leaders to share views and ideas to improve Indian management education.
