CAT 2018 exam may bring a few surprises which may be aspirant friendly but would be brought in to achieve the further diversity in IIM classrooms for the 2019-21 batch. Sharing about CAT 2018 exam conducting strategy in an interview with MBAUniverse.com, Dr Sumanta Basu, faculty IIM Calcutta and convener of CAT 2018 responds to the queries related to CAT exam being conducted by IIM Calcutta this year.
MBAUniverse.com anticipates that Dr Basu would bring about more changes in CAT 2018 exam structure and pattern, synchronizing with what other IIMs have done since 2015. Q. When is the CAT 2018 Notification Expected? Please share
CAT Convener: CAT 2018 important dates will be available soon. We are in process of finalizing the dates.
Q. Is there any proposed change in CAT 2018 exam pattern?
CAT Convener: It will be difficult to provide specific details as of now and most of the information will be available as the iimcat website is updated.
Q. How does CAT 2018 propose to improve diversity in IIMs?
CAT Convener: We put a concerted effort to ensure diversity without compromising on quality. Based on past data, we are working on suitable examination pattern to achieve it.
Q. CAT Registrations have been on the rise during last 3 years? Please share the key factors to this rise?
CAT Convener: In my view, this is happening primarily because of information dissemination to a larger body of relevant participants through multiple popular websites for CAT aspirants. Also the concerned authority attempts its best to make the examination attractive and discriminating for the participants.
Q. Your message to CAT 2018 aspirants to prepare for CAT 2018
CAT Convener: Focus on basic concepts and application to handle a wider variety of problems. Concerned team always attempts to set a question paper that filters candidates with managerial aptitude with decision making ability and original thought.
