On January 30, 2024, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) announced completion of 100% Summer Placements for its largest-ever batch of 600+ PGP and PGP-BA students. Consulting and Banking Sector were the largest recruiters hiring almost 50% of students. With this announcement, IIM Bangalore has put to rest the fear mongering by National Media, who have cast doubts on the capability of Top Indian B-schools to place their students. IIM Bangalore Summer Placements 2024 Highlights
- A total of 437 Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) and 47 Post Graduate Programme in Business Analytics (PGP-BA) students were placed.
- Consulting firms dominated the IIM Bangalore Summer Placements, securing the highest number of offers (158), with Accenture Strategy setting a new record with 45 offers.
- However, the proportion of students opting for consulting internships slightly declined this year, as the allure of finance, banking, and investment opportunities led to an increased number of offers (130).
- FMCG and retail companies, coveted for marketing roles, extended a total of 69 offers.
- Manufacturing firms contributed 55 offers, focusing on areas such as supply chain management and new product entry.
- Ecommerce and payments companies presented 45 offers, concentrating on digital marketing and card business roles.
- IT-related firms made 43 offers, spanning areas like IT consulting and product management.
- Business conglomerates offered 41 positions, primarily targeting leadership tracks for general management roles.
Prof. Ganesh N Prabhu, Chairperson, Career Development Services, and faculty and Chairperson of the Strategy area, IIM Bangalore, said, “The rolling summer placements saw many first-time recruiters offering roles in strategy, marketing, products, finance, analytics and investments.” He added, “Some of the projects offered were more interesting and challenging than those offered during the summer placement week.”
IIM Bangalore Summer Placements 2024 Timelines
IIM Bangalore has shared details about the process and timelines for Summer Placements 2023. The process spanned over three months. Here are the details.
- Placement Week: First, a week-long placement drive at IIM B was conducted from November 6th to 11th, 2023. This resulted in 484 students (437 PGP and 47 PGP-BA) securing placements.
- Rolling Placements Process: After the Placement Week, an additional 115 students (89 PGP and 26 PGP-BA) were placed through a subsequent rolling placement process.
- External Agency Supports Placement of Student’s with Disabilities: During the Rolling Placements, IIMB sought help of an external agency Atypical Advantage to place 12 students with disabilities with leading corporates.
- Three Students Self-Placed: Three PGP students sought and found summer internships on their own.
IIM Bangalore Dispels Fear Mongering by National Media
