In a major development, Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon is set to welcome Professor Arvind Sahay from IIM Ahmedabad as its new Director from October 2023. This appointment comes as an important milestone for the prestigious business school, with Prof Sahay's esteemed reputation in marketing academia and leadership roles at IIM Ahmedabad. Prof. Arvind Sahay, renowned for his expertise in marketing and his significant contributions to IIM Ahmedabad, currently serves as Chairperson of both the NSE Center for Behavioral Science and India Gold Policy Center. He also boasts an impressive track record in building and institutionalizing areas and processes at IIM Ahmedabad.
The position of Acting Director at MDI Gurgaon was held by Prof. Sangeeta Shah, who heads the Information Management Area at the institute. Prof Shah took over the reins in January 2023, succeeding Dr. Rajesh Chakrabarti. Earlier this year, MDI invited applications for the Directorship. This process was closed in April 2023. Thereafter, following internal discussions and a thorough search process led by a committee comprising experts from leading B-schools, it was announced that Prof. Arvind Sahay would assume the directorship.
Prof Sahay's contributions to academia are extensive, with a distinguished career that includes roles such as Dean of Alumni & External Relations (2013-16), Chairperson of PGPX (2007-09), Chairperson of Executive Education (2017-19), and Chairperson of the Marketing Area (2019-2021) at IIM Ahmedabad. Moreover, he has authored over 60 cases and 30 refereed journal articles in top international outlets, demonstrating his prowess as a researcher and consultant. His recent research focuses on diverse areas, such as pricing, neuroscience, brand management, gold, and innovation. In March 2022, Prof Sahay published the book "Brands and the Brain".
Established in 1973, MDI Gurgaon is a prominent business school known for its commitment to excellence in management education.
