Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), a highly ranked and high RoI Institute with multiple campuses and multiple programmes will accept only CAT 2023 exam score for its flagship M.A. (HRM & LR), M.A. (ODCL) Admission 2024 and CUET PG 2024 score for other PG Programmes. TISS has cancelled its own TISSNET 2024 entrance exam. TISS aspirants now need to appear in CAT 2023 on Nov 26, 2023 conducted by IIMs or take CUET PG conducted by NTA in 2024
TISSNET 2024 Cancelled

Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has cancelled its own PG entrance exam TISSNET 2024 for PG admission 2024 and has made CAT 2023 and CUET PG 2024 exams mandatory for Admission 2024 to various PG programmes. The present TISSNET will not be conducted any more as per the notification released by TISS

TISS Admission 2024: Key Changes

In its notification dated November 14, 2023, Tata Institute of Social Sciences has clarified, “The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), has decided that admission for the forthcoming Academic Session 2024-25 for all its Postgraduate Programmes will be based on the CUET (PG)-2024 scores, except for the following programmes, which will consider CAT scores.

  • Master of Arts in Human Resource Management & Labour Relations
  • Master of Arts in Organisation Development, Change and Leadership

All additional details, updates, and notifications, as applicable, will soon be accessible on the Institute's admissions website admissions.tiss.edu/admissions/ma/programmes.”

TISSNET 2024 Cancelled: Impact on TISS Admission Process 2024
With the cancellation of its own TISSNET 2024 exam, following changes in PG admission at Tata Institute of Social Sciences are to take place:

Options for TISS Aspirants for PG Admission 2024
Tata Institute of Social Sciences has released the public notice very late regarding cancellation of TISSNET 2024 which was otherwise expected to be held in February 2024. Now with the CAT 2023 registration closed the options left with TISS 2024 admission seekers are:

If you have applied for CAT 2023, the TISS admission opportunity for its flagship M.A. (HRM & LR), M.A. (ODCL) 2024-26 batch is open for you. You need to apply separately for TISS admission 2024 when the application opens in December 2023/January 2024. But if you have missed to apply for CAT 2023, you will not be considered for admission to M.A. (HRM & LR), M.A. (ODCL) programmes. Such TISS aspirants stand good chances for admission to other PG Programmes offered by TISS on the basis of CUET PG 2024 exam which will be conducted by National Testing Agency in May/June 2024.

Cancellation of TISSNET 2024: In Compliance with Education Ministry & UGC Norms
The key reason due to which Tata Institute of Social Sciences has cancelled the conduct of TISSNET 2024 exam, as shared by TISS is “The Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission have mandated the National Testing Agency to conduct the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission to Postgraduate Programmes in Central, State, and other participating Universities, Institutions, Organisations, and Autonomous Colleges. The CUET (PG) provides a single- window opportunity for all Postgraduate students seeking admission to any of the Central Universities (CUs) or other participating organisations, including State Universities, Deemed to be Universities, and Private Universities across the country.

In compliance with the above, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), has decided that admission for the forthcoming Academic Session 2024-25 for all its Postgraduate Programmes will be based on the CUET (PG)-2024 scores, except for the following programmes, which will consider CAT scores - Master of Arts in Human Resource Management & Labour Relations; Master of Arts in Organisation Development, Change and Leadership.”

Tata Institute of Social Sciences is the oldest institute for professional social work education. It offers number of high RoI Post graduate programmes and the admission was through the TISSNET exam. However, from the academic session 2024, TISS admission will be through CAT and CUET-PG exam. In its final Placements 2023 for M.A. HRM & LR program, TISS has registered highest salary of Rs.49 LPA and average salary of Rs.27.22 LPA. Out of the 66 students who participated in TISS Mumbai placements 2023, 64 received the salary of Rs.20 LPA & above while 41% of the batch received PPOs. Some of the top recruiters in TISS Mumbai placements 2023 included Accenture, Aditya Birla Group, Flipkart, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Asian Paints among others.
