CAT 2013 Day 4 Analysis: Imbalance Quant, trouble-free verbal

CAT 2013 Day four first session is over. The difficulty level of Quant section was on a higher side while Verbal section was fairly easy. This article brings you the analysis of the first session of CAT day four.

Today was the fourth day of CAT 2013 exam. The first session for Day 4, on Sunday, October 20, 2013 got over this afternoon at 1.00 PM. MBAUniverse.com editorial team was present on many centers in New Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and spoke to students for their first reaction and feedback. According to the students, the difficulty level of Quant section was on a higher side while Verbal section was fairly easy.
Kailash Verma, a test taker from Mathura who was present at the Noida test centre shared his experience and said, Verbal was a complete give away for me, very easy. RC was also easy. Quant was very hard for me. I even didnt get time to revise.
One of the test takers in New Delhi, Arun Prasad who has also given CAT 2012 said, CAT 2012 was more balanced but this year the Quant section is totally different. I got maximum questions from Trigonometry and other questions were mixed with various topics. No arithmetic or probability. Quant was very tough, I dont remember how many questions have done.
Pranati Chanchal at Dwarka test Centre in Delhi was totally miffed with her performance and said, My mock scores were always in mid 90s but today was the worst exam for me. Verbal I did around 25 questions but in Quant I have to choose what to do and what not. I was able to do only 13 questions. My Quant percentile will be definitely low.
CAT 2013 Day four first Session Sectional Analysis:
Quantitative Ability: Very difficult and imbalanced
Quantitative Ability area had maximum questions from trigonometry and geometry with 4 questions each. Rests of the questions were from the other known topics such as Functions, number system, Mensuration, Time & Speed & Distance etc. Many questions were mixed with other topics which were confusing for students as it needed to be solved differently.
According to students, usual topics like Arithmetic and Probability were missing from their question sets. Most of the questions were confusing and were very calculation intensive.
Data Interpretation: Average in difficulty level
DI questions were average in difficulty level and questions were based on observation and calculation rather than logical. Questions were based on Simple interest, Venn diagram.
Verbal Ability: Easy
Verbal Ability was termed as easy and below average in difficulty level by many aspirants of first session on Day four. Maximum questions were from sentences correction and para jumbles. Other topics like vocabulary, Fill in the blanks, out of context all had equal representations.
In RC there were total of 10 questions for 3 passages which were descriptive in nature. All the passages were small with direct questions and easy to understand.
Logical Reasoning: Average in difficulty level
The Logical Reasoning questions were easy and had sets on arrangements and calculation. Questions were analytical. There were around 8-10 questions in LR.
