In a bid to contribute and recognise the entrepreneurial atmosphere prevalent in the country, International Management Institute (IMI), New Delhi would be organizing its annual entrepreneurship summit e-Merge on 12th December, 2015.
The summit would focus on the e-commerce sector, which has become the apple of investors eyes and would bring together entrepreneurs from various e-commerce industries on the same platform to discuss about the nitty-gritties of starting-up a business. Itwould be a one-day event featuring founders, co-founders and senior executives from leadinge-commerce firms, discussing various trends and issuesexisting in the industry.
E-retail has become an absolutely new way to purchase favourite products and experience a new shopping environment altogether. It has become a bright example of entrepreneurship in India, with its success encouraging growth in other sectors as well. Books and electronics formed the first wave in e-retail, followed by fashion as the second wave. However, what is astounding is the third wave which has come up in the form of hyperlocal grocery delivery. It is extremely interesting to see what the future holds for the online grocery order and delivery companies that are looking to grow and expand in the Indian market, of which a substantial portion is still captured by the unorganized sector. Some of the eminent guests of the summit who would be brainstorming on this topic in the form of a panel discussion are Mr Abhinay Choudhari (Co-Founder, BigBasket), Mr Vijay Singh (Founder, Aaramshop), Mr Anand Subramanian (Sr. Director - Marketing Communications, Ola), Mr Navneet Singh (Co-Founder, PepperTap), Mr Raghav Verma (Co-Founder, Chaayos).
Secondly, one of the most talked about topics surrounding the e-commerce sector is whether it would turn out to be a bubble considering that none of the companies in the sector are making profit and that outpour of external funding is increasing and the traction gaining. Mr. K. Vaitheeswaran, (Founder, Indiaplaza - Indias first e-commerce website), Mr. Siddharth Khaitan (VP - Strategy, Jabong), Mr. Nitin Bawankule (Director - e-commerce, Google India), Mr. Nitin Kochhar (VP-Category, Shopclues) would be taking this up as part of another panel discussion, wherein they would be providing insights into the ground realities regarding the same. Additionally, the summit would also have a series of entrepreneurial talks by Mr. Vijay Ghadge (Founder, Gojavas), Mr. Kunal Shah (Founder, FreeCharge), Mr. Lalit Mangal (Co-Founder, CommonFloor), Mr. Paavan Nanda (Co-Founder, Zo Rooms), Mr. Dewang Neralla (MD & CEO, Atom Technologies).
The summit offers a platform to management graduates and budding entrepreneurs to have a face-to-face interaction with some stalwarts of the e-commerce sector. e-Merge hopes to provide the best guidance possible to aspiring entrepreneurs so that they go ahead and make a mark for themselves and keep alive the Make in India dream. Following the ideals of experiential learning, IMI New Delhi attempts to uphold the spirit of entrepreneurship with its own event, e-Merge. The summit would also be open for students from other B-schools.
