9 MBA colleges in Delhi ranked among top 50 in MHRD- NIRF Ranking 2016
Out of top 50 B-schools ranked by MHRD Government of India, 9 B-schools are from Delhi NCR only including 1 Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Rohtak.
Analysis of MHRD-Government of India NIRF B-school Ranking 2016 for top 50 management institutes, may throw more surprises for the MBA aspirants and academicians alike. Out of top 50 B-schools ranked by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, 9 MBA/PGDM B-schools are from Delhi NCR only including 1 Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Rohtak.
Honourable Minister of HRD Smt Smriti Irani unveiled the NIRF National Ranking 2016 in New Delhi on April 4, 2016 with the ranking positions awarded to 300 Universities, Engineering institutes, Management institutes and Pharmacy institutes in India in separate categories.
The Ranking of 50 B-schools across the country on the parameters adopted by MHRD has thrown open the debate in the highly intellectual academic community and corporate sector that recruit from top B-schools in the country. Placing many top B-schools at lower rank than they were placed by most credible ranking agencies has also sent surprise waves in the student community aspiring for admission to MBA/PGDM programmes in various B-schools.
All the ranked Delhi NCR B-schools fall in A category The Management Institutes ranked in MHRD-NIRF National Ranking 2016 belong to the A category as MHRD has specified Unfortunately, data from the Category B institutions in all domains continued to exhibit major inconsistencies despite our best efforts to remove them. It was decided, therefore, that no rankings be announced for Category B institutions this year.

The candidates seeking admission to various B-schools in Delhi NCR are no exception to this fact. Since the NIRF Ranking 2016 is released by none other than MHRD, an aspirant would be taking the career decision while finalizing the admission to the respective B-school on the basis of document released by Government of India.
Although the onus of consistency and authenticity of data has been placed on the forwarding B-school by MHRD, the candidates while relying on what MHRD says, may take the path shown by the B-school ranking 2016 despite all the reservations and riders the MHRD has mentioned in its report and document.
20% top B-schools from Delhi NCR There is no doubt that Delhi NCR is the hot destination to pursue MBA education since it is an important commercial center in South Asia and third largest metropolitan area in India offering more job opportunities to MBA graduates.
Delhi houses good business schools it is known to all but few are aware that 20% of the top 50 B-schools are in Delhi NCR. The NIRF Ranking 2016 released on April 4, 2016 by Ministry of HRD for 50 management institutes reveals this fact which further strengthens the notion that doing MBA from a Delhi NCR B school is probably better than doing it from any other city.
7 of 9 Private Delhi NCR B-schools ranked high Out of the 9 B schools from Delhi NCR, there are 7 private PGDM B-schools that have been ranked at higher places in MHRD-NIRF Ranking 2016 with IMI Delhi with 7th rank at the top followed by Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon ranked at 11th place.
IIM Rohtak slips to 19th position IIM Rohtak has found a place below IMI Delhi and MDI Gurgaon. The only IIM in Delhi NCR, IIM Rohtak has found 19th place in NIRF Ranking 2016.

Delhi is an important commercial center in South Asia and third largest metropolitan area in India offering more job opportunities to MBA graduates. It has the highest per-capita income in the country, at around 2.5 times the national average, and the second highest GDP in terms of purchasing power parity. The state has witnessed a phenomenal rise in its service sectors due to its skilled work force having fluency in English speaking, availability of adequate infrastructure, number of Internet and telecom service providers and satellite communication facilities.
Almost all the B schools have completed and are out with their placement data 2016. The Placement 2016 in all the B-schools have recorded a higher salary in the range of 15 to 50% as compared to last year. Corporate sector appears more inclined to hire MBAs at a much higher salary package rather than hiring ordinary engineering or accounting graduates.
Admissions are open in a few of the well known MBA colleges in Delhi. The last date to apply is approaching fast and it will be wise to take the decision if you want to complete the MBA/PGDM in 2016-18 from a good college in Delhi.
