Post CAT 2017 result declaration on January 8, CAT 2017 cut offs in top B-schools including IIMs and other top MBA colleges for admission to 2018-20 batch may go up or down depending upon the admission policy announced by the respective IIM or other top MBA college. The IIMs have already announced their minimum required sectional and overall CAT cut offs for first stage shortlist apart from other key academic and other parameters they would consider in the shortlisting process.
IIM Ahmedabad cut off, IIM Indore cut off, FMS Cut offs were already announced at the time of announcing their admission policy for 2018-20 batch. IIM Ahmedabad CAT cut off is lowest among all the 20 IIMs as it requires on 70 sectional percentile in CAT 2017.
Other prominent MBA colleges CAT cut offs will depend upon their past trends in shortlisting process based on CAT scores. FMS, SPJIMR to consider sectional CAT cut offs also
It should be noted that Admission to the flagship MBA/PGDM 2018-20 programmes in most of the top MBA colleges is open on the basis of CAT 2017 cut offs. Apart from the 20 IIMs, there are some of the top MBA colleges like FMS Delhi, SPJIMR Mumbai among others who have prescribed minimum qualifying sectional CAT cut offs for each of the three sections in CAT 2017 to shortlist the candidates for final admission round.

On the other hand there are many prominent top MBA colleges in India who would consider overall percentile scores in determining the CAT 2017 cut offs to shortlist the candidates for GD-PI-WAT round to generate the final merit list. Some of these prominent MBA colleges who are supposed to consider the overall CAT score as cut offs are MDI Gurgaon, IMI New Delhi, IMT Ghaziabad, TAPMI Manipal among others.
