CAT 11 Day 3: 6,743 candidates take test, Smooth sailing on

The Day 3 of CAT 2011 was held on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. The number of test takers saw a marginal rise of 40 candidates, compared to Day 2. The total number of candidates who took the test on Day 3 was 6,743. The number of test takers on Day 2 was 6, 703. The third day too saw a glitch-free test without any major report of technical malfunctioning at the test centers.

So far, CAT has been taken by 19, 136 test takers in these 3 test days. The total number of registered candidates for CAT 2011 is 2.5 lakh candidates.
CAT 2011 resumed today, i.e. Friday, October 28, 2011 after two days of Diwali celebrations. Soumitra Roy, Managing Director, Prometric India said, The first three days of testing have been smooth, with positive feedback from candidates.

The difficulty level of the paper remained uniform. The difficulty level of the CAT 2011 paper has so far maintained a uniform difficulty level. The exam has given questions of moderate to tough difficulty level. The pattern of the question has also remained the same, which is 20:10 ratio in Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation and Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning, states Gautam Puri, Vice Chairman, Career Launcher.

Amongst the two sections, the experts mention that the Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation section is more difficult as it is more calculation intensive. The questions of the first section, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation are more calculation intensive. But over the last two exams, the difficulty level of Verbal Ability is also going up with longer and ambiguous RC passages and tricky questions on English Usage, mentions Arks Srinivas, former Director, T.I.M.E.

CAT 2011 is being conducted in 68 test centers across 36 cities in India. The test is being held in a 20 day window starting from Saturday, October 22, 2011 to Friday, November 18, 2011.
