CAT is feared most for the surprise elements and technical disruptions in the examination but the year 2013 of CAT examination could be recorded in the CAT history as the year of smooth and successful completion of examination during the five years as it had less disruptions, less technical snags, least number of question errors, a very balanced test and above all had no surprising elements.

CAT which is the most sought after and wide spread MBA entrance test to the coveted B schools in India, has seen perceptible changes in paper pattern, size and type of examination since 2009 and has been gaining more and more popularity. The paper pencil mode in 2009 was shifted to computer based test. Another modification took place in 2010 when three sections were clubbed into two. Earlier there was Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, Di & LR sections, now there are only two sections Quant & DI and Verbal Ability & LR. Number of questions which used to be fluctuating every year, have since been fixed since 2011 to 60 (30 in each section).

The competition however, remains as tough as ever among the aspirants. Those who missed the CAT may focus on forthcoming examinations like XAT/SNAP/MAH-CET.
