Online registration for Admission 2014 at Xavier Labour Research Institute (XLRI) Jamshedpur will last till December 21, 2013. After registering for XAT 2013, candidates have to apply and register with XLRI Jamshedpur separately.
Q: As XAT 2014 is just 20 days away, lets start with your adviceto the aspirants appearing for XAT 2014 exam.
A: XAT 2014 paper will be discriminatory and candidates need to have patience while choosing questions. They should be selective in attempting the questions. Selecting right question will be the key to success.As there are just 20 days left for XAT 2014, there are a plenty of opportunities for the aspirants to improve themselves in various quarters. They should be selective in attempting the questions. Selecting right question will be the key to success.The USP of success lies in staying focused without any diversion.
Q: Will there be any change in pattern for XAT this year as compared to the last years test?
A. There are minor adjustments to the pattern of the last year exam. In XAT 2014, to be held on January 5, the General Knowledge will be part of the Main Paper. However, it will not be used for the cut-offs and determining the overall percentile for short-listing the candidates for personal interview.
Q: Is there any surprise element expected in XAT 2014?
A: There will not be any element of surprise in XAT 2014. But in the decision making section there may be variety of situation and context.
Q. What is the unique advantage of XAT 2014 exam pattern?
A: All candidates are tested on same paper. There isno digital divide and learning effect. Thus all of them have same level playing field.

Q: As a convener of XAT 2014, are you satisfied with the number of registrations for XAT 2014?
A: However the number of registrations viz 89,400 is marginally low from last year but we are not worried. We were expecting more registrations this year but it could not happen. For the successful ending of XAT 2014 registration process I give credit to my team and also the agencies which have supported us in campaigning for XAT including MBAUniverse.com.
Q: Which type of preparation strategy should the XAT 2014 applicants adopt to excel?
A. Different sections in XAT require different strategy. English requires reading habit, decision making section and the aspirants need to look into different aspects of situation and context. For quant there is a need to practice. As the Writing Ability Test and the Essay Writing help the students to score well in XLRI, the students should not ignore essay. They should not spend too muchof time on any single question. They should organize their thoughts and present their views clearly in precise manner.
Q: What were the key strategies adopted by XLRI to keep the number of XAT 2014 registrations high?
A. The key strategy was to inform the candidates that they should use electronic media not only about the important dates but also on other issues of importance. After registering for XAT 2013, candidates have to apply and register with XLRI Jamshedpur separately. Registration to XLRIs PGDM courses and fellow programmes in Management for 2014-16 batch will be open till midnight of December 21, 2013.
Q: As the number of candidates getting themselves registered for XAT 2014 was marginally low from XAT 2013, do you think recession played a role in the less registrations for XAT 2014?
A: Although the number of candidates registered this year is marginally low from last year, comparing the decline in the number of candidates registered in other similar examinations, it could be inferred that XAT has not been affected by recession.
