AICTE to begin approval process for PGDM institutions from Jan 28
In a development that will bring relief to 280 odd PGDM Institutes, AICTE has announced opening the window for approval of all matters related to existing PGDM institutions.
In a development that will bring relief to 280 odd PGDM Institutes, All India Council for Technical education (AICTE) has announcedopening the window for approval of all matters related to existing PGDM institutions including theincrease in intake, and extension of approval. B-schools can apply for approvals for academic session 2014 from January 28, 2013 on the AICTE portal.
In addition, AICTE has also invited applications for setting up of new PGDM and Diploma/ Post Diploma level institutions, other than those which require affiliation from University for the academic year 2014-15.
The filing of online applications for the session 2014-15 in respect of all approvals shall begin onJanuary 28, 2014and end on February 15, 2014. The processing of all applications submitted online for session 2014-15 shall begin onFeb 1, 2014and shall end onMarch 31, 2014.
It has invited applications for following process in existing PGDM and Diploma/ Post Diploma level institutions, other than those which are affiliated to university for the academic year 2014-15.
1.Change of site/location. 2.Closure of institution. 3.Conversion of womens institution into co- educational institution. 4.Extension of approval. 5.Increase/ reduction in intake. 6.Adding courses in existing programme. 7.Closure of programme/course. 8.Mandatory provision of supernumerary seats for TFW. 9.Introducing/continuing / discontinuing supernumerary seats for PIO. 10.Introducing/continuing/discontinuing seats for sons/ daughters of NRIs. 11.Change of name of institute. 12.Starting 2ndshift programmes. 13.Starting part time programmes.
This notification by AICTE will clear way for PGDM B-school for their admission process 2014.
The development comes after a Supreme Court of India order dated January 16, 2014, that stated that AICTE will be regulating the PGDM institutions for the year 2014-15. Education Promotion Society for India (EPSI) had filed an interim application in the Honble Supreme Court of India requesting it to direct AICTE to take necessary steps to initiate the process of granting extension of approval for the year 2014-15 in compliance of the order dated 28/08/2013 passed by the Honble Supreme Court of India.

Based on the discussions in the meeting EPSI had written a letter to Union HRD Minister Pallam Raju on December 31, 2013 asking his ministrys intervention on this matter.
