MBA Admissions 2014: IMI gets 17% more applications, last date January 27 midnight

After the declaration of CAT 2013 and XAT 2014 results you must be gearing yourself up to get admission in well known and leading B Schools in cities of your choice. This article of MBAUniverse.com will inform you regarding the admission process of one of the leading B Schools in Delhi NCR, International Management Institute (IMI), New Delhi. Dr Pritam Singh, Director General , IMI has confirmed that the application process for IMI will close by tonight, January 27, 2014. IMI only accepts CAT and GMAT scores for its Post-Graduate Diploma in Management programme. However for admission 2014, IMI received total more than 14000 (17%) applications as compared to the last year.

Till now IMI has not announced its expected cut off for admissions for its 2 year Post-Graduate Diploma in Management(PGDM 2014-2016) full time programme but as per previous year s record the cutoff for CAT was 92 percentile and for GMAT it was 650 for the PGDM program . The CAT cut off for PGDM-HR programme during admission 2013 was 85 percentile.

The Interview for the admission 2014 in IMI will start fromFebruary 19, 2014onwards at its Delhi centre while the interviews for its out station centres of Ahmadabad, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata and Guwahati will be held during March 07-30, 2014. Psychometric testing will also be a part of interview process rather than GD.

IMI follows the trimester system with the academic calendar beginning in June 2014 and each trimester being of 11-12 weeks duration. At the end of the first three trimesters of the program, all students are required to undergo compulsory summer internship for 8-10 weeks in industry.

Admission Criteria

To be eligible for admission to the PGDM Program, the candidates must possess a Bachelors degree or equivalent, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks orequivalent in any discipline, from a recognized university for admission to post-graduate programs. The bachelors degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years education, after completing higher secondary schooling under the 10+2 system or equivalent. Candidates appearing in the final year of their bachelors degree or equivalent are also eligible, provided they furnish the proof of having met the minimum eligibility criteria by September 30, 2014.

Participants for the PGDM program may be from any discipline such as Engineering, Humanities, Commerce, Economics, Medicine or any other branch of education. Candidates with relevant work experience as also fresh graduates are welcome to apply.

Short listing Criteria

Candidates who have appeared for the CAT 2013 examination or furnished valid GMAT scoreand have applied to IMIwill be short listed on the basis of information provided in the application form, CAT scores (sectional and overall) or GMAT score, educational background, marks in 10th, 12th, graduation and work experience.Only short listed candidateswill be called for the final stage of the selection process.

Selection criteria

Past academic performance in graduation, class XII & X, Extempore speaking, Psychometric Test, Essay Writing, Personal Interview besides other qualitative parameters, will constitute the core components of the final stage of the selection process. The IMI Admission Committee reserves the right to modify these components while communicating the same to the applicants at the Personal Interview stage. The overall objective being to identify and assess the candidates potential for a managerial career.
