MDI Gurgaon NMP batch hosts first Annual Leadership Conclave Samvaad15; Top corporate leaders participate

Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon, one of the finest B-schools in the country hosted its Annual Leadership Conclave, Samvaad 15, on Saturday October 24, 2015.
Themed around Emerging leaders of Innovative India, the panellist included successful entrepreneurs, company heads, leadership gurus, academicians and industry stalwarts from various sectors and start-ups.
The event commenced with the welcome speech of Prof. J. K. Jain, Chairperson, NMP & Energy Management and Prof. C.P. Shrimali, Director, MDI. It was followed by back-to-back sessions spanning a wide spectrum of management-related topics such as transformational leadership, team building, power of engagement, building people-centric organisations, cultural challenges for global CXOs, power of start-ups and the promise they hold for B-school students, to name a few.

Highlighting the significance of this initiative, Prof. J. K. Jain, Chairperson, NMP & Energy Management said Developing young managers to be good leaders is the soul of NMP programme in MDI. Support of Industrys great captains help in sowing the seeds to inculcate values of leadership in future managers

The first panel included eminent leaders namely Sh. Ashwani Lohani, Chairman and Managing Director at Air India, Sh. D. D. Misra, Director (HR) at ONGC, AVM Baladitya VSM, Air Vice Marshal, Indian Air Force.
Transformational leadership is about Commitment, Integrity, Non-interference & Involvement of employees, said Sh. Ashwani Lohani, CMD, Air India highlighting the change catalysed by good leadership.
Guiding the participants about developing the leadership attributes, Sh. D. D. Misra, Director (HR) at ONGC said Never fear to ask for help, take responsibility and lead your team with passion.

The second panel saw participation of leaders from the corporate industry. The panellist included Sh. Gyanesh Chaudhary, MD & CEO, Vikram Solar Pvt Limited, Ms. Neena Goel, Executive Director and Market Head, Standard Chartered, Mr. Rajiv Arora, Human Resource Leader at Mercer and Dr. V.P. Singh, Executive Director- HR & Chief Pupil at Devyani International.

Extracting the formula of growth from Physics of Business Growth, Sh. Gyanesh Chaudhary, MD & CEO, Vikram Solar Pvt Limited, emphasized on the combination of Mindset + System + Process. He also spoke how clean energy is not just desirable but need of the hour too.
Speaking about Women as business leaders, Ms. Neena Goel, Executive Director and Market Head, Standard Chartered said Work life balance, respecting value system & connecting with people are important for future leaders.

The list of esteemed speakers who threw light on leadership in start-up culture includes Mr. Vikas Banga, Vice President at Snapdeal & Angel Investor, Mr. Praneeth Tammiraju, AVP Operations atPepperTap, Mr. Sameer Grover, Founder & CEO at Crownit and Mr. Prabhakar Tiwari, CMO, PayU India.
