MAT 2016: 164 B schools to accept September exam score; number goes down from 330

Number of Management Institutes accepting MAT 2016 September scores has gone down to 164 from 330 in last exam. The scores of MAT 2016 September exam can be used for admission to MBA/PGDM 2017-19 programme in these B-schools.

Although the MAT scores remain valid for 1 year from the date of declaration of result, candidates appear in quarterly MAT exams to improve their score and also to get the hands on experience for the forthcoming exams. AIMA conducts MAT 4 times a year at quarterly intervals. The 1st MAT of the year is held in February, followed by 2nd in May, 3rd in September and 4th in December.

Which MAT acceptable? Students dilemma Since MAT is a quarterly exercise, management institutes also find it difficult which exam score they should accept and which one they should not accept. For example, MAT 2015 September exam score is valid till now. The candidates exploring admission opportunity in the B-schools where the process is still open, can apply with their September MAT 2015 score. There has been 3 more MAT exams after the said exam.

Now with the reduced number of score accepting institutes, if an institute accepts September MAT 2015 score and does not accept May MAT 2016 score, the candidate despite improving his/her score is unable to apply to the B-school with improved score. The candidate is in dilemma and AIMA also doesnt come to his rescue.

AIMA washes its hands off On its site, AIMA welcomes MAT registrations but when the issue of non acceptability of MAT scores comes up, it washes its hands off saying Applicants are advised to check the approval/recognition status of various programs and other details directly from the concerned Authorities/ Institutes/ Universities. AIMA HAS COME ACROSS A COUPLE OF CASES WHERE THE ASPIRING CANDIDATES MAT SCORE IS NOT ACCEPTED BY SOME PARTICIPATING INSTITUTES/UNIVERSITIES FOR ADMISSION TO MBA FULL TIME COURSE DESPITE THEIR CONFIRMATION TO AIMA AT THE TIME OF PARTICIPATION BY INCORPORATING THEIR NOTIFICATIONS IN MAT BULLETIN. CANDIDATES ARE ADVISED TO RECHECK WITH THE CONCERNED INSTITUTES/UNIVERSITIES BEFORE APPLYING FOR MAT.

None is highly ranked Following is the list of B-schools who according to AIMA will accept September MAT 2016 score for MBA admission in 2017. Out of the 164 institutes, very few enjoy good ranking. Besides there are many B-schools who would not accept MAT score for their flagship programme-
