XIMB students interact with Bhavish Aggarwal CEO Olacabs.com; get inputs on entrepreneurship

Students of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) got an opportunity to have interaction with Mr. Bhavish Aggarwal, Co-Founder and CEO, Olacabs.com and Mr. Subroto Bagchi, Chairman, Skill Development Authority, Govt. of Odisha.

The Corporate leaders and an inspiration for budding managers visited Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar on September 28, 2016 for an interactive session with the students. The occasion was also graced by Mr. Srikumar Misra, Founder-CEO at Milk Mantra and an alumnus of XIMB.

The event began at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 28 with a welcome address by Fr. Paul Fernandes, S.J, Vice Chancellor, Xavier University. Mr. Bagchi then addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of entrepreneurs seeking to create and deliver value, instead of overly focusing on valuation. According to Mr Bagchi, Businesses should strive to make the world a better place: Businesses cant succeed if societies fail.

This was followed by an interactive session with Mr. Bhavish Aggarwal with Mr. Misra serving as his interviewer and subsequently, the moderator for the Q and A session. Mr. Aggarwal spoke about his entrepreneurial journey and the challenges he faced along the way. He spoke of the positive change in mindsets with regard to the way entrepreneurship is now being perceived in the country.

Speaking about Olacabs.com, he said that one of their greatest strengths is that they always try to understand what consumers want and work backwards from there to fulfil those needs. This is exemplified in their mission to Build mobility for a billion Indians. He averred that this is a time of great innovation and disruption in the mobility industry, and companies in this domain need to keep an eye on the future, whilst simultaneously looking to develop and refine their existing products and offerings. He also added that there needs to be a risk-taking and experimental approach from players in this industry because we need more innovators and problem solvers who can create value for the society at large.

This interview was followed by a short Q and A session where the members of the audience interacted with Mr. Aggarwal. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Fr. Paul Fernandes, S.J, Vice Chancellor, Xavier University.

Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) was established 29 years ago. XIMB is now Flagship School of Xavier University Bhubaneshwar (XUB).
