E-commerce offers down by 50% at XLRI Summer Placements 2017; FMCG tops with 26% offers

XLRI summer internship recruitment 2017 saw participation of 92 companies offering 156 roles across domains with FMCG sector making 26% offers but e-commerce losing its attraction

E-commerce offers down by 50% at XLRI Summer Placements 2017; FMCG tops with 26% offers

Xavier School of Management (XLRI),one of Indias premier B-Schools, concluded the summer placements for its largest ever first year batch 2016-18 in record time. According to XLRI, the entire batch consisting of 361 students got summer offers in just 2.5 days! While FMCG sector was a biggest recruiter of summer talent, E-commerce sector lost its lustre. E-commerce sector was a major recruiter last year accounting for 8% of the summer offers, but this number has halved and the share has reduced to 4%.

The summer internship recruitment process saw participation of 92 companies offering 156 roles across domains including consulting, finance, sales and marketing, operations, business development, Human Resource and Industrial Relations.

21 new recruiters on campus
XLRIs traditional recruiters have once again demonstrated their confidence in the students and hired in large numbers. The top recruiters on campus in terms of numbers were Accenture,Aditya Birla Group,Akzonobel,BCG, General Electric, ITC, Hindustan Unilever,Mahindra, Mondelez,Procter & Gamble, Star India andTAS.

In addition, 21 first time recruiters participated in the recruitment process and offered 28 new roles across domains.
The flagship Business Management program continued to receive a very good response from the industry while XLRI maintained its dominance as the foremost recruitment destination for budding HR managers.
FMCG: Top recruiting sector

The sector wise split of offers is as follows:
FMCG - 26% offers; BFSI - 13% offers; Conglomerates-13% offers; Manufacturing-12% offers; Consulting - 7% offers and the remaining 29% offers are in Technology, Media, Pharmaceuticals, Oil & Gas, Power, Retail and Automotive.

E-commerce: Offers lose glitter
E-commerce was a major recruiter last year accounting for 8% of the offers, this number has halved this year and the share has reduced to 4%.

The Parivartan program is an opportunity for XLRI students to explore summer internship opportunities with Non-Government Organizations and Not-for-Profit Organizations received applications from several students. The Parivartan internship program is conducted a week prior to the summer internship recruitment week to ensure students can make a conscious decision of contributing to the society rather than opting for the corporate stint.
