AICTE Revises Academic Calendar Yet Again for Admission 2020: PGDM Admissions Open in B-Schools till August 25; Fee refund last date extended to Aug 17
The MBA admission 2020 last date is again extended by AICTE to August 25 from July 31 and Seat cancellation date with full Fee refund is extended to Aug 17. The last date to get admission against vacancies is extended to November 15, as against October 20 earlier. Academic session commencement date for new PGDM students is also extended to August 10 from earlier August 1, 2020. There is no admission or tuition fee hike for the session 2020-21
The academic calendar may further change depending upon the situation. According to AICTE, “ The academic calendar may further change subject to the condition existing due to Covid-19 pandemic and guidelines issued by Ministry of Health, Home and Human Resource Development.”
The revised academic calendar for B-schools contains guidelines for the PGDM/PGCM admission, commencement of classes for new as well as existing students, mode of teaching, revised dates to apply for fee refund among other key instructions. These guidelines are mandatory for more than 500 B-schools including top B-schools like XLRI, SPJIMR and MDI who offer AICTE approved PGDM programs.
Revised AICTE Academic Calendar: Supersedes July 7, July 1 and May 1 Guidelines
Superseding its academic calendar, released earlier, the regulatory body, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has revised and extended various dates regarding the admission and session commencement again for the benefit of the students seeking admission in MBA programs this year.

Last Date for Seat cancellation with Full Fee Refund: Extended to August 17, 2020
AICTE has also extended the last date for Seat cancellation with full fee refund. The application for full fee refund and seat cancellation can be submitted till August 17, 2020 instead of earlier July 25.
Candidates applying for full fee refund in the case of seat cancellation should note that a deduction of Rs.1000/- will be applicable as per AICTE guidelines. AICTE had earlier instructed the B-schools that the students should get the due amount of his/her fee refunded within 7 days from the date of submission of the Application at the college. Session Commencement with Online Classes
AICTE has instructed the B-schools that the session commencement for existing as well as newly admitted students in PGDM/PGCM courses should begin with Online Classes to avoid any impact on Covid-19. This is a progressive move by regulator and is in line with international practices. Top global B-schools like Harvard Business School are also conducting their classes online.
AICTE had issued some of the important guidelines in its earlier notification dated May 1, 2020 and has not revised now:
- No fee hike for the Academic session 2020-21: Admission & tuition fee for the academic session 2020-21 for existing as well as new students to remain same
- No Fee Payment Deadline till Normalcy is restored: B-schools to relax fee collection norms in Covid 19 pandemic
- Time Line Extended for Graduation Marks-sheet Submission to December 31: No B-school to deny admission on this ground
