IIM Calcutta will declare the CAT 2018 result on Saturday, January 5 at 1.00 PM in afternoon. A notification regarding this has been released on the official website of CAT 2018 today. “Important Announcement: The CAT results will be announced on January 5, 2019 (1:00 PM),” says the IIMCAT official website. As reported on MBAUniverse.com, CAT results were partially leaked in the afternoon on January 1, 2019 on CAT exam official website iimcat.ac.in. Struggling with technical glitches, CAT Result 2018 was visible on January 1, 2019 on the official website iimcat.ac.in although IIM Calcutta has not officially released the CAT 2018 result. CAT test takers were pleasantly surprised to see their CAT 2018 score card for a brief spell of 2-3 hours in the afternoon on the New Year day. However, the website was later closed and remained inaccessible.

Confusing CAT Score Scaling formula penalizing Higher Scorers?
On January 1, number of candidates who could view their score card and have shared that the source code leak of CAT 2018 Result has revealed that the raw scores have been multiplied by a certain factor to obtain the scaled scores. With this formula, Slot 1 candidates with higher raw marks got penalized by more marks - 3-4 in some cases. However, those getting less than 50 raw in Slot-1 Quant were upscaled by 0.1 to 0.3 and those getting more than 50 raw marks in Slot-1 Quant were downscaled by -0.6 to -1.3. Similar result has been reported for Slot-2 Quant also. Now the candidates are seeking justification.
It is very much possible that because of this anomaly the official CAT 2018 result site has been blocked and the processing of the CAT result has been put to final testing.

CAT Result was declared in the afternoon on January 8, 2016 but before that it leaked in morning and before the candidates could download their score cards, the site was blocked with the message ‘The Login to form will be available only between 25-10-2015 12 Hours 45 Minutes to 08-01-2016 10 Hours 36 Minutes.’ It created chaos among the candidates who were waiting for the official declaration of result and thought that the publication of the result on the site meant the final result. However, the then CAT convener, Prof Tathagata Bandyopadhyay confirmed that it was due to the technical glitch on part of TCS due to which the result could be viewed.
