Senior Management Academic and former faculty member of IIM Indore Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh has joined as the new Director of MDI Gurgaon. Dr Singh joined MDI on October 10, 2019. He has earlier served as the Director-in-Charge of IIM Indore.
Speaking on his appointment, Dr. Singh said, “It’s a matter of great privilege for me to take charge of one of the India’s premier B-schools. I am keen to advance the progress driven by my predecessors and to take the institute at higher level.”
Dr. Singh is well known in management education, training, research, consulting and academic administration. His academic career, spanning over three decades, saw him in the key leadership roles across various academic and government bodies. Donning the hat of a Nodal Officer, he served as the mentor of IIM Sambalpur and also the Chairperson of Academic Committee of IIM Sambalpur.
Sharing his vision for MDI Gurgaon, Dr Singh said, “In alignment with the vision of MDI, I will continue to further the institute’s mission of nurturing thought leaders of tomorrow. I will also strive to create an ethics-driven and knowledge-enhancing ecosystem within the institute based on the core principles of entrepreneurial thought, organisational commitment, and community-driven ambition.”
Dr Pawan Kumar Singh succeeds Dr Himadri Das who had stepped down as the Director of MDI Gurgaon on October 3, 2018. With effect from October 4, 2018, Dr Atmanand, Director of MDI Murshidabad, was holding additional charge of Director-in Charge of MDI Gurgaon.
Dr. Singh earned his doctorate degree in Management from Vikram University, Ujjain, and has guided research at PhD level. He did his masters in Economics from Ranchi University and holds a postgraduate degree in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations from Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi. He has published numerous research papers, two books, one booklet in the field of people management. In addition to being on the editorial boards of reputed journals, he has presented about 75 research papers in national and international seminars both in and out of India. Over the course of his influential career, Dr. Singh has leveraged his industry expertise to train more than 15,000 executive participants. He has been invited as a speaker by various esteemed academic institutions including CII, PHDCC, ISTD, LIC Roundtable, various Management Associations, Rotary Club, Lions’ Club.
Formed as an autonomous body in the year 1973, MDI Gurgaon is one of the top Ranked B-schools in India. It is the first Indian Business School and second in Asia to get international accreditation for its courses from ‘Association of MBAs’ (AMBA), UK. Various B-school surveys have consistently ranked MDI amongst the top B-Schools of the country.
