XLRI Journal ‘Management and Labour Studies’ to Publish a Special Issue based on IMC Research Conference Papers
In an announcement that will give a major boost to research in the domain of management education, Management and Labour Studies (MLS), the official journal of Xavier School of Management Jamshedpur has decided to publish a Special Issue based on selected papers presented at IMC International Research Conference. Published in collaboration with Sage Publications, MLS is a 50-year-old journal that is indexed in ABDC, CABS, Scopus, and UGC-Care lists. The announcement was made by Dr Debasis Pradhan, Editor of Management & Labour Studies.
IMC International Research Conference (IMC-IRC) 2024 is an integral part of the 14th Indian Management Conclave (IMC) 2024 and saw participation from 150+ Scholars from 9 IIMs, NMIMS, IRMA, and Symbiosis University, amongst others. The 14th edition of IMC 2024, organized by MBAUniverse.com and hosted by XLRI Jamshedpur on September 20-21, was a grand success with marquee speakers including AICTE Chairman, AACSB Asia Head, CXOs from ITC, UBER, TATAs, AXIS Bank and Directors from IIMs, IITs, SPJIMR, MDI and other leading B-schools.
Management and Labour Studies, a Premier Journal, to publish Special IMC-IRC Issue
Recognising the quality of research presented at IMC Research Conference, the prestigious Journal ‘Management and Labour Studies’ has decided to publish a Special Issue based on the selected papers presented at the conference.
Complimenting the research conference organisers, Editor Dr Debasis Pradhan said: “IMC International Research Conference is a great initiative to foster impactful research in management education in our country. I congratulate MBAUniverse.com and XLRI Jamshedpur on the grand success of this world-class conference.”
Making the important announcement, Dr Pradhan said, “Management and Labour Studies, the oldest and premier Management Journal of India published by XLRI, has decided to publish a Special Issue or Special Section in a Regular Issue that is based on selected IMC-IRC 2024 Papers. We invite submissions from the conference paper presenters.”
Management and Labour Studies, published in collaboration with Sage Publications, is amongst the few journals to have been indexed in ABDC, CABS, Scopus, and UGC-Care lists. Each issue of the Journal aims to positively impact academics, business practice, and society at large and remain the best destination for timely and relevant research.
Sharing an important update about MLS Journal, Dr Pradhan said: “The journal is expecting an upgraded rank in ABDC classification and is most likely to get indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) list this year.”
MBAUniverse.com and XLRI Jamshedpur will be releasing official communication and submission guidelines to Authors who presented their papers at the IMC Research Conference.
IMC-IRC attracts 150 Submissions; Adopts Stringent Measures for Quality
IMC International Research Conference received an overwhelming response from management academics. About 150+ Scholars from 9 IIMs, NMIMS, IRMA, and Symbiosis University, amongst others submitted their papers.
A total of about 45 papers were selected after careful review, and selected authors were invited to present them in six tracks. To ensure high-quality of research presentations, the following steps were undertaken:
- Conference Review Committee, comprised of senior academics and led by Prof Sanjay Patro, Dean-Academics, XLRI Jamshedpur was constituted.
- After a critical review of all submissions, less than 45 papers were selected for presentation at the conference.
- In effect, almost 100 submissions were rejected -- a rejection rate of about 70%.
- Further, submission of the Full Manuscript before the conference was made mandatory to ensure rigorous preparation.
- Finally, no virtual paper presentation is permitted. To facilitate rich interaction, all papers have to be presented in person.
Eminent Jury Selects the Best
To recognize cutting-edge research in management education presented at the conference, IMC-IRC Best Research Paper Awards 2024 were constituted. Award winners were decided by an eminent Jury Members and Track Chairs and presented during the IMC Conclave.
Eminent Jury Members and Track Chairs included Dr Sanjay Patro, Dean-Academics, XLRI Jamshedpur; Dr Arpan K. Kar, Chair Professor, IIT Delhi; Dr Sangeeta Sahney, Dean, VGSoM, IIT Kharagpur; Dr Debasis Pradhan, Editor, XLRI Management & Labour Studies, and Dr Aditya Shankar Mishra, Editor of IIM Ranchi Journal of Management Studies.
After two rounds of highly competitive presentations, eminent jury selected the following Papers for the awards.

All Papers Selected for IMC-IRC Paper Presentation Invited to Submit
In another announcement that recognizes the quality of research papers presented at IMC-IRC 2024, Management and Labour Studies has invited the Authors of all Papers Selected for presentation at IMC Research Conference. However, only those Authors who registered for the conference and successfully presented their paper at the conference are eligible for the submission of their revised paper.
Making the announcement, Dr Debasis Pradhan, said: “Congratulations for the selection of your paper for presentation at IMC International Research Conference 2024. We are happy to share that MLS has decided to publish a Special Issue or Special Section in a Regular Issue that is based on selected IMC-IRC 2024 Papers. You are invited to submit your revised manuscript.”
Dr Pradhan further added, “Please note that only a few papers will be selected for inclusion in this Special Issue. Based on your learnings and interactions during the IMC-IRC conference, please revise your manuscript to make it richer and more impactful.”
