K J Somaiya Institute of Management Mumbai has inaugurated its diverse 2024-26 batch of 623 students admitted in MBA, MBA Healthcare Management and MBA Sports Management programs. K J Somaiya has admitted 70% Non-Engineers, 42% female candidates and 47% students with prior work experience in its 2024-26 batch. This is the 5th batch of MBA under the Somaiya Vidyavihar University attracting students from the length and breadth of the country.

K J Somaiya Institute of Management, Mumbai welcomed the diverse and large 2024-26 batch of 623 budding leaders in MBA, MBA Healthcare Management and MBA Sports Management programs. The batch comprises 70% Non engineers, 42% female students, 47% students with work experience. This is the 5th batch of MBA under the Somaiya Vidyavihar University attracting students from the length and breadth of the country. Earlier K J Somaiya awarded Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) instead of MBA Degree. With the purpose of ‘Transforming, Together’, KJSIM enables transformative journeys of individuals to value-based & purpose-driven leaders for building a better world.
The inaugural event to welcome the new batch was held at K J Somaiya Institute of Management campus in presence of Chief Guest of Inaugural ceremony Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (Amul); Samir Somaiya, Chancellor, Somaiya Vidyavihar University; Prof. V N Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice-Chancellor, Somaiya Vidyavihar University and Raman Ramachandran, Ph.D, Director & Dean of KJSIM Mumbai.

K J Somaiya Awards Full Merit Scholarships
During the inaugural ceremony, 4 students from the incoming batch were awarded full merit scholarships for demonstrating academic excellence with other significant achievements in either sports, arts, community service or any other achievement as evidence of their outstanding capability. These students will be role models for the current and future student community and help to inspire faculty to be at their best.

Batch to Undergo One Week Induction Programme
The batch will undergo a 1-week induction program with various modules like case analysis, certifications, start-ups and incubation, social media etiquette, yoga, fitness through dance, etc., to set the transformative tone for their MBA journey.

Welcoming the new batch, industry veteran, Raman Ramachandran, Ph.D, Director & Dean of KJSIM, explained how KJSIM enables transformative journeys of students, emphasizing on nurturing potential of students through human capabilities necessary to succeed and a unique student progression index to measure students’ performance beyond their CGPA.

Jayen Mehta, MD of Amul was the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony. In his address, he highlighted the value of management education and encouraged students to define their purpose, stressing on the significance of sacrifice, frugality and consistency. He emphasized that learning is a perpetual process, which truly begins when formal education concludes, with the market, the world, and society serving as continuous learning environments.

Shri. Samir Somaiya, Chancellor, Somaiya Vidyavihar University spoke about the group’s enduring commitment to provide education to all and the legacy of Somaiya Vidyavihar, with the inception of Somaiya Vidya Mandir in 1942 at Kanhegaon in rural Maharashtra to the establishment of a new school in rural Madhya Pradesh, aimed at supporting those with limited resources.

Prof. V N Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice-Chancellor, Somaiya Vidyavihar University graced the inaugural ceremony to welcome the batch and emphasized that unlike single-faculty autonomous institutions, the Somaiya Vidyavihar University hosts diverse fields, where faculty of management, engineering, design, education, music, sports and others come together for the holistic development of students.
