Recent years have seen a paradigm shift in the emphasis on Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Philanthropy. The corporate legislation in India mandates that a company must spend 2% of its profits on social causes. As per the recent reports, the total corporate social responsibility (CSR) spending by the top 500 companies in the country since the applicability of mandatory CSR in 2014 is around ₹50,000 crore by March 2019.

In this context this symposium proposes to discuss the broad philosophy behind the emphasis on social responsibility and how corporate bodies are rising to the occasion to meet this need. We also wish to discuss the direction that these activities should take as well take a cue from current practices.

Symposium Highlights
The highlights of the symposium are the Special talks by the senior corporate executives with practical exposure to CSR. Invited lectures by the senior academician of international repute. Deliberations by senior executives of NGOs on CSR implementation.

The Panel discussion will have panel representing industry, NGOs and academics. The one day event will cover various issues relating to CSR like Global perspectives of CSR; Emerging issues in CSR; Designing CSR projects; Implementing CSR projects; CSR and Sustainability of Interventions: Opportunities and Challenges.     

The questions to be addressed at the symposium are - Should CSR be mandatory? How the CSR policies are shaped under mandatory CSR? What are the expectations of the corporate sector to partner with the community based organizations? What are the challenges faced by the community based development organizations? How CSR funds can be utilized for sustainable interventions.

The symposium could be attended by Academicians, Executives of NGOs and Executives of Corporate Sector.

How to Register & Participate in CSR Symposium?
There is no registration fee to the symposium participation and as such the participation is free. However, the participant is required to register to the symposium on or before February 20, 2019. Please make  note that there is no provision for spot registration.

The Participants will be issued with participation certificate. The travel & accommodation is to be arranged by the participants themselves although a list of hotels at Mysore for accommodation is provided by the organizers.
