IIT Madras MBA Placement 2024: Average salary Dips by 16% at Rs.16.93 LPA; Accenture, Dell, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley among top Recruiters

The Department of Management Studies (DoMS) at IIT Madras has recorded 100% Placement for its MBA 2022-24 batch. However, this year the rising spree in average salary in this highly ranked institute has stopped and has taken a U-Turn with 16% dip reported in average salary package for the batch. The highest salary has also gone down by 3% from last year. The final placement process the companies recruiting for a wide variety of profiles from the campus. The placement process received active participation from companies across all domains, ensuring ample choice for the candidates to pursue careers in the field of their preferences. The diverse profiles offered by the companies to the batch is evidence of the quality and efforts of DoMS IIT Madras.

M.S. prepares the student in undertaking logical, rigorous, and managerially relevant research in various areas of management. This program is characterized by significant research component in the curriculum.

The MS (by Research) program emphasizes the use of logical, analytical, experimental and intuitive thinking skills in the pursuit of research. It is a program for those starting research careers; helps students seeking a research oriented industry job (e.g. R &D profile or for a role that involves macro level design and conceptualization).

The Department of Management Studies at IIT Madras was established in the year 2004 as a home to the popular Master in Business Administration course being taught since August 2001. IIT Madras was the first IIT to open its doors to enthusiasts from streams other than Engineering such as B.A, B.Sc & B.Com in 2013. Besides offering the MBA program, the department has research programs at the Master’s (MS) and Doctoral (PhD) levels and an Executive MBA program for the middle and senior level executives.  The department is also a partner in multi-institutional Diploma program (PGPEX - VLM) for Visionary Leaders in Manufacturing, along with IIM Calcutta and IIT Kanpur. Consultancy and Executive Development programs are some of the other activities undertaken by the Department.

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) at IIT Madras is a two-year, full-time, seven quarter program aimed at training graduates to become capable managers. Students are provided a well-rounded learning experience in terms of management theory and actual practice. The program involves classroom teaching, case discussions, hands-on management internship in industry and project work. The program comprises seven quarters of course work, with four quarters for first year and three quarters for second year. The program is structured in such a way that students can join the industry at the same time with their peers from other business schools.  Each quarter is usually of eight weeks duration. Specializations in MBA program are offered in the areas of Finance, HR & OB, Marketing, Operations, Information systems and Integrative Management which helps to march on the path of Entrepreneurship. MBA Admission process in IIT Madras is through CAT exam conducted by IIMs. Application for admission opens in the first week of January for a month.
