Although the combined writ petition of Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS), Education Promotion Society of India (EPSI) and Jaipuria Institute of Management has not been finally disposed off by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the apex court has given nod to go ahead for PGDM admissions 2015-16 allowing the 300 B schools to continue with pre AICTE notification (2010) status
Sharing the information EPSI circular EPSI/CIR-179/PGDM-37/2014 dated October 15, 2014 clarifies “regarding the hearing of Writ Petition (C) No.92 of 2011 before the bench comprising of Hon’ble Mr.Justice M.Y. Eqbal and Hon'ble Mr. Justice Shiva Kirti Singh. The matter came up for hearing today i.e. Wednesday, the 15th October, 2014.” Hon’ble Supreme Court of India granted extension to its Interim Stay (March 17, 2011) against AICTE’s Notification dated December 28, 2010 on the autonomy of PGDM Institutions for Admissions for the year 2015-16
The petition was filed in Hon’ble Supreme Court by EPSI, Jaipuria Institute of Management and AIMS regarding staying of the AICTE’s Notification (2010) and restoring the status quo and autonomy of PGDM institutions for the academic year 2015-16. . Hon’ble Supreme Court in its four interim orders earlier had restored the status quo and stayed the AICTE Notification of (2010) for Academic Sessions of 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15.
Contending the case Mr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Sr. Advocate, Mr. K.K. Venugopal, Sr. Advocate and Mr. Gopal Sankara Narayan, Advocate appeared in the Court. The matter was heard in length. After lengthy arguments, the Hon’ble court has extended the stay dated March 17, 2011 for the academic session year 2015-16 now. The 300+ PGDM institutions for the academic session 2015-16 will take admissions through six national tests namely CAT, XAT, MAT, ATMA, GMAT and CMAT Appreciating and welcoming the apex court decision Dr H Chaturvedi, Alternate President, EPSI said “This is a good relief for the PGDM Institutions. You will appreciate that this has been achieved due to the efforts of EPSI and your support. However, your continued support and co-operation by sending the legal contribution and taking membership of EPSI is necessary as the Write Petition has not yet been finally disposed off. “
Another year of stay has been allowed now by the apex court restoring the autonomy, conduct of examinations, admissions, fee structure and governance for academic session 2015-16. It is a significant order that would bring about clarity on the PGDM admissions 2015-16 as the 300 private B schools offering PGDM programmes were not able to proceed with their admission process for academic session 2015-16 due to lack of clarity on this issue.
