Dr Himadri Das, currently Director of Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon will be joining International Management Institute (IMI) New Delhi as its new Director General. Dr Das who joined MDI Gurgaon seven months back in the month of February 2018 will remain at MDI till October 3 and will then join IMI New Delhi.
Confirming the news to MBAUniverse.com about his new role at IMI New Delhi, Dr Das said, “I am joining as Director General at IMI in the first week of October, will be based in Delhi. Will continue as Director at MDI till Oct 3.”
Before joining MDI, Dr Das was the Director of Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon for five years and prior to that he was at the International Management Institute, New Delhi for eleven years in various leadership roles. He was the Dean (Academic Programs) for five years at IMI New Delhi. Before stepping into the academic roles, Dr Das had earned thirteen years of corporate experience mainly in the IT products and services industry in the US and India.
Dr Himadri Das has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Luxembourg, the University of Tampere in Finland, and the Grenoble Graduate School of Business in France. Dr Das is a B.Tech. and MBA from IIT Delhi and an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia, USA.
Dr Himadri Das is stepping in the shoes of eminent academic and management experts who have served as Director Generals at IMI in last decade. Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, the Director of IIM Kozhikode has served as Director General of IMI New Delhi from January 16, 2017 for more than one year, Dr Bakul Dholakia, former Director of IIM Ahmedabad was the Director General of IMI from October 1, 2014 to September 14, 2016. Prior to Dr Dholakia, IMI New Delhi had witnessed Dr Pritam Singh as it Director General. Dr Pritam Singh had brought about many changes at IMI New Delhi and was instrumental in the launch of IMI Kolkata and Bhubaneswar campuses.

Presently, Dr Pradip Bhaumik has been serving as the Acting Director at IMI New Delhi after Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, stepped down from the post of Director General.
Formed as an autonomous body in the year 1973, MDI Gurgaon is one of the highly Ranked B-schools in India. It was the first B-school to get the globally reputed AMBA accreditation in the country. Prior to Dr Himadri Das joining as its Director, MDI was led by eminent educationist Dr C. P. Shrimali as its Acting Director. The successor to Dr Himadri Das at MDI Gurgaon is to be decided soon.
