IIM Calcutta Competes 100% Placements 2024; 464 Students Placed

IIM Calcutta MBA student has got domestic salary of Rs 1.2 Crores in final placements 2024. Concluding 100% final placement 2024, 529 offers were rolled out by the prominent recruiters from across all the domains and sectors. Jio Financial Services, Hero Fincorp, Yubi, Sobha Realty, Sirius AI, Husk Power Systems and DMI Finance.

IIM Calcutta Competes 100% Placements 2024; 464 Students Placed

IIM Calcutta has completed 100% placements for the flagship MBA programme for the 59th batch on February 19, 2024. About 464 students took part in the process, securing 529 offers from 194 companies. IIM Calcutta has not revealed salary statistics for Placements 2024. This year’s placements at IIM Calcutta saw the participation of many first-time recruiters like Jio Financial Services, Hero Fincorp, Yubi, Sobha Realty, Sirius AI, Husk Power Systems and DMI Finance.

Following are the key highlights of IIM Calcutta Placement 2024:

  • Achieves 100% placement
  • Average salary 2024 has not been shared. Last year, average salary was Rs 35.07 LPA in Placement 2023.
  • Highest salary has gone up all time high at Rs.1.2 crore
  • First-time recruiters include Financial Services, Hero Fincorp, Yubi, Sobha Realty, Sirius AI, Husk Power Systems and DMI Finance.

Nimruji Jammulamadaka, Chairperson, Placement Committee said, “Looking at the market conditions, we were ready for the long haul and focused on diversifying the recruiter base and building student resilience. We must say, the institute has been successful in this regard.”

IIM Calcutta Placements 2024 – Consulting Sector Key Recruiter
The consulting sector emerged as the top recruiter yet again at IIM Calcutta with 167 students (31.6 percent) bagging offers. Accenture Strategy emerged as the top recruiter among the consulting sector which included firms like EY-Parthenon, Monitor Deloitte, KPMG, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Vector Consulting and Arthur D. Little, McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Kearney, amongst others.

IIM Calcutta Placements 2024 – Finance Sector amongst Top Recruiter
IIM Calcutta continues to attract prestigious finance firms and remains the finance campus of the country. About 114 students (21.5 percent) entered marquee finance firms from the private equity, venture capital, investment banking, markets, asset and wealth management domains, which saw participation from firms like Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and Chase, Bank of America, Citibank, Barclays, HSBC and others.

IIM Calcutta Placements 2024 – Technology Roles Offered
The technology sector witnessed the participation of firms like Microsoft, Navi, Arcesium, Media.Net, Uber, Angel One, HCL, Newgen, Zomato, Javis and NPCI, which extended offers to 88 students (16.6 percent).

IIM Calcutta Placements 2024 – Many Marketing & General Management Roles Offered
Marketing and general management sector firms like ITC, Loreal, Proctor & Gamble, Dabur, Tata Administrative Services, Vedanta, Adani, Hinduja, Aditya Birla Group, Essar Group, JSW and Reliance among others, which recruited 130 students (24.6 percent).

  • Achieves 100% placement for the class 2022 with more offers despite the large batch
  • Average salary increased by 18% at Rs.34.2 LPA in Placement 2022 from Rs.29 LPA last year
  • Median Salary has gone up at Rs.31 LPA in Placement 2022 from Rs.27 LPA last year
  • Large batch size with 465 students in Placement 2022

Sector Wise Placement Highlights
Consulting and Finance comprised 56 percent of total placements as has been the trend at IIM Calcutta.  Below are shared the key highlights of sector wise placements and key recruiters

Consulting: Top Recruiting Domain with 41% Share
Like last year, Consulting Sector emerged as the top recruiting domain in IIM Calcutta placement 2023 with 232 offers in this sector. Consulting firms like Accenture Strategy, Bain & Co., Boston Consulting Group, Kearney and McKinsey & Co. were the top recruiters in the consulting sector.

Finance: 15% Share
IIM Calcutta, the most preferred MBA college in Finance area recorded 86 offers in Finance area. 15 percent students got offers in Finance domain in Placement 2023. Students were selected by top Investment Banking, Asset Management, Private Equity Venture Capital firms. IIMC witnessed participation from financial institutions including A91 Partners, BNP Paribas, Franklin Templeton, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, Macquarie Group, Nomura, among others

General Management and Sales & Marketing: 23% Share
Sales & marketing sector with 52 offers and general management with 82 offers together accounted for 23 per cent of total hires, with companies like Aditya Birla Group, Tata Administrative Services and Vedanta which were some of the top recruiters in this sector.

IT & E-Commerce: 18% Share
Software services and E-commerce accounted for 18 percent of placements at IIM Calcutta. Top recruiters included Amazon, Adobe, Flipkart, Microsoft, Navi, Paytm, Salesforce and Zomato among others.

New Recruiters
IIM Calcutta also witnessed several new recruiters during placement 2023 apart from regular recruiters.

IIM Calcutta Cluster Cohort: “Dream” and “Wait and Hold” Options
The fast Placement 2023 at IIM Calcutta is a result of initiatives taken during last few years. Students at IIM Calcutta co-developed a scheduling system which increased efficiency and ensured maximization of interface opportunities between students and recruiters.

IIM Calcutta applies cluster-cohort, “Dream" and “Wait and Hold" options to allow its students to realise their full potential at the top institute. Recruiters could also select from a larger pool and make offers to the most suitable candidates as per their choice. The hold and wait and dream policies enable recruiters to find a better company-student fit. The placement at IIM Calcutta follows cluster-cohort process with all companies of a cluster getting equal opportunity to interview. The process was conducted in a hybrid Online and offline mode.

The “Dream policy” at IIM Calcutta Placements imply that students can choose and apply to a specific industry and company according to their expectations while the “hold & wait” policy enables students to hold their offers and interview for other companies. IIM Calcutta saw the expansion of hold and wait policy with 16 extra offers and dream policy with 34 extra offers.
