IIM fees for 2013 Vs 2012: IIM-L becomes more affordable; IIM-B hikes fee

The premier Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are the dream B-schools for every MBA aspirant in India. While the IIMs sit on the top of the B-school system in India as they offer best quality of education, their two-year full time MBA programmes also remain in the club of costliest management programmes offered by different B-schools in India.

As the economy continue to give hiccups to B-schools during placement season, Most of the B-schools have either kept their fees unchanged or made a token fee hike. Most of the top IIMs like IIM-A and IIM-B charge between Rs 12-17 lakh as their total fee for the two year management programme.

The management programmes at new IIMs however cost Rs 10 Lakh or below. For the academic year 2013-14, some IIMs have also revised their fees.

In a bid to become more affordable to the aspirants coming from lower-middle class, Indian Institute of Management Lucknow has even cut the fees by 10 per cent for the academic session 2013-15.

IIM-L recently reduced its fee from Rs 12 Lakh to Rs 10.8 Lakh. The new fee structure of IIM-L makes it a better option for candidates in comparison to other top B-schools like XLRI, NMIMS and MDI which charge Rs 12 Lakh, Rs 12.6, and Rs 15.5 Lakh respectively. Though all the three B-schools –XLRI, NMIMS, and MDI rank lower in the MBAUniversse.com Ranking 2013, their management programmes are costlier than IIM-L.

On the other hand, IIMB has increased its fees for batch of 2013-15 to Rs 17 lakh from the previous fee structure of Rs 15 lakh.
