XLRI Placements 2014: 50 % roles came from BFSI & Consulting domain- Prof. Rajiv Mishra, Chairperson, Placement

Placement 2014 at XLRI Jamshedpur was over in less than 4 days of commencement. Half of the total job offers were from the BFSI and consulting domain.

Placement at XLRI Jamshedpur was completed in a record time of less than 4 days in 2014 with probably the shortest ever recruitment season in the institute. According to Prof Rajiv Mishra, Chairperson, Placement The Campus Recruitment Process took place in the 1st week of February and was completed in 3.5 days

Although XLRI Jamshedpur began its placement process later than number of top rated B schools, but completed it much earlier than any of them. The placement 2014 reflected an upward swing in recruitment with more recruiters offering higher placement packages and probably fearing lest the students seeking placement opt out of placement process, companies competed among themselves in offer of more jobs.

Key Trends in placement 2014

XLRI has a consistent record of 100% placement. The placement season 2014 was no exception to the feat. Entire placement 2014 process at XLRI was managed by Student Placement Committee at the B school.

8 more students in 2014 sought placement in comparison to batch size in 2013. There were 241 students seeking placement 2014 out of the batch of 245 students while 233 students were available for placement in 2013. 4 students opted out in 2014. All the 241 students seeking placement got suitable offers and the process was over in less than 4 days in the first week of February 2014.

Rise in Number of recruiters

Placement 2014 witnessed a rise of 34% in number of recruiters over placement season 2013. While there were 77 companies visiting XLRI for placement in 2013, the number rose to 103 with more job offers.

Rise in PPOs

Pre placement offers (PPOs) also saw a rise of 25% in placement 2014 over 2013. 79 students were offered PPOs at XLRI from recruiters.

BFSI: major recruiting segment

Banking, Financial services and Insurance(BFSI) and consultancy emerged as the prominent recruiting sector in placement 2014 at XLRI. According to Prof Rajiv mishra, chairperson, placement 50% of roles for BM students came from the BFSI and Consulting domain. Median Salary up

Beating the slowdown in placement offers, the placement season 2014 at XLRI saw a rise in median salary from Rs.16.2 lakhs per annum in 2013 to Rs.16.25 lakhs per annum showing a rising trend in the job market.

Top Recruiters at XLRI

Out of 103 recruiters, maximum number of 12 offers was made by ITC which emerged as the top recruiter at XLRI Jamshedpur. Coming next in the row was ICICI with 10 offers. Axis Bank occupied third position with 8 offers in placement 2014 at XLRI.

Apart from the above three top recruiters there were other companies that made number of offers in placement 2014 at XLRI. Major recruiters included Airtel, Standard Chartered, Aditya Birla, Mckinsey, Deutche Bank, CRISIL, BNP Paribas, Wipro, Asian Paints, Kraft, BCG, Dr. Reddys, Tata Steel, J P Morgan
