April 2019 is going to be a corner stone in the journey of the globalization of Indian management institutes as the Bangalore based IFIM Business School, the sixth institute in the country to be AACSB accredited, will present its pioneering study on the Industry 4.0 Management Curricula at the 2019 edition of AACSB’s International Conference and Annual Meeting (ICAM).

ICAM has an age-old legacy that started not so long after the foundation of Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in 1916. Management educators from all over the world look forward to this annual event, from within and outside of the AACSB member network. The ICAM 2019 will have more than 1,300 thought leaders, subject matter experts, and top educators from over 60 countries converge in Edinburgh, Scotland from April 14 to 16, 2019. The theme for the ICAM 2019 is “Challenging Core Foundations”. This three-day event will foster the innovation, solutions, and connections that inform the future of business education.

IFIM Business School has been a frontrunner when it comes to the curriculum and pedagogical innovations in management education. These innovations have been recognized at different national fora and garnered impact and engagement across stakeholders, ranging from the students to the corporate partners. A testimony to the impact of such innovations is the achievement of one of the fastest 100% campus placements in 2019.

The most recent work of the IFIM Business School was a study that it conducted in partnership with the National HRD Network (NHRDN), to discover the needs of Industry 4.0 and curate a curriculum aligned to that. The study report that was unveiled on January 8, 2019 in Bangalore at the hands of Dr Tom R. Robinson, President and CEO – AACSB, Dr Jagdish Sheth, Professor – Goizueta Business School, Emory University and Dr A. Parasuraman, Professor and Chair in Marketing – University of Miami Business School, has drawn widespread appreciation from both industry and academia. It is on account of this study that AACSB has invited IFIM Business School to present at the ICAM 2019, making it a one-of-its-kind representation by any Indian management institute in the history of ICAM.

Sharing his views on this development, IFIM Business School’s Director Dr Atish Chattopadhyay who will represent the institute at the event, said, “Uncertainty is the only constant in today’s world. Business Schools face the challenge of facilitating learning processes that will develop professionals who thrive amid constant change. Graduates from Business Schools must be ready not just for their immediate roles, but more importantly, to be leaders for a tomorrow. We at IFIM Business School did a pioneering study to understand the Industry 4.0 needs, the learnings from which have been used to curate the new curriculum to be implemented from the class of 2019. It is a matter of great honor that AACSB has invited us to its annual conference to present the findings of the study, the process of the curriculum development and the curriculum incorporating the industry needs. I look forward to the opportunity to not just share but also learn from the top academics from across the globe.”

Dr Eileen Peacock, a global business school advisor and former SVP and Chief Officer Asia - AACSB International said, “While working with IFIM business school over the past few years I experienced and recognised their management’s strong desire to excel in business education and become internationally recognized. Their AACSB accreditation achievement last year was a major step forward in that regard.  In quick succession, the Industry 4.0 study has presented another step forward for them, and the subsequent placement of that work on ICAM’s agenda is yet another step towards international recognition.”

Plenary speakers at AACSB’s ICAM include Lynda Gratton, Professor of Management Practice at the London Business School and Howard Yu, LEGO professor of management and innovation at IMD Switzerland. Prof Gratton has written extensively on the future of work and the role of corporation, her eight books have received various awards and her most recent book ‘The 100-Year Life’ was shortlisted for the FT Business Book of the Year. Prof Howard Yu is as the director of IMD’s signature program, the three-week Advanced Management Program (AMP). In 2015, Yu was selected by Poets&Quants as one of “The World’s Top 40 Business Professors Under 40”.
