AICTE Revises Academic Calendar for Admission 2023: PGDM Admissions 2023 Open in B-Schools till Sept 15; Fee refund last date extended to Sept 11
The MBA admission 2023 last date is extended by AICTE to September 15, 2023 and the Seat cancellation date with full Fee refund is extended to September 11, 2023. PGDM institutes can commence academic session for Existing & New Students and start classes in Offline (Class Room) or Blended mode (Online as well as Offline) as per the revised schedule
AICTE has extended the last date for the MBA colleges in India to offer MBA/PGDM Admission 2023. Now B-schools can offer admission to the new batch till September 15, 2023. The start date of Academic Session 2023-24 for new PGDM 2023-25 Batch is open. PGDM institutes can commence academic session for Existing & New Students and start classes in Offline (Class Room) or Blended mode (Online as well as Offline). These changes are part of ‘Revised Academic Calendar’ released by AICTE.
The revised academic calendar for B-schools contains guidelines for the PGDM/PGCM admission last date, revised dates to apply for fee refund among other key instructions. These guidelines are mandatory for more than 500 B-schools including top B-schools like XLRI, SPJIMR and MDI who offer AICTE approved PGDM programs.

Making changes in its academic calendar, the regulatory body, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has revised and extended various dates regarding the admission and session commencement for the benefit of the students seeking admission in MBA programs this year.

AICTE has also extended the last date for Seat cancellation with full fee refund. The application for full fee refund and seat cancellation can be submitted till September 11, 2023.
Candidates applying for full fee refund in the case of seat cancellation should note that a deduction of Rs.1000/- will be applicable as per AICTE guidelines. AICTE has already instructed the B-schools that the students should get the due amount of his/her fee refunded within 7 days from the date of submission of the Application at the college. Session Commencement & Guidelines to Start Classes
AICTE has instructed the B-schools that the session commencement for existing as well as newly admitted students in PGDM/PGCM courses can begin with Offline (Class Room) or Blended mode (Online as well as Offline) classes. However, all the prescribed protocols / guidelines related to Pandemic need to be followed. This is a progressive move by regulator and is in line with international practices. IIMs and other top B-schools are conducting their classes online and will start shortly the offline conduct of classes.
The academic calendar may further change depending upon the situation. According to AICTE, “The Academic Calendar may change subject to conditions existing due to Pandemic and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health/ Ministry of Home/ Ministry of Education from time to time.”
Last year also, due to Covid pandemic situation, AICTE had extended the last date for the MBA colleges in India to offer MBA/PGDM Admission and revised its academic calendar thrice.
AICTE had issued some of the important guidelines in its various notifications last year. A few of them were:
- No fee hike for the Academic session: Admission & tuition fee for the academic session for existing as well as new students to remain same
- No Fee Payment Deadline till Normalcy is restored: B-schools had to relax fee collection norms in Covid 19 pandemic
- Time Line Extended for Graduation Marks-sheet Submission: Due to late conduct of graduation exams, candidates were allowed to submit their marks sheet till December 31. No B-school could deny admission on this ground
