8. How to Improve BIMTECH Admission Chances: Tips from Admission Chair
Advising students how to improve their admission chances in BIMTECH, Prof Chanchal Kushwaha, Admission Chair shares a few tips and key do’s and don’ts and says, “Choosing a Post-Graduate Management Program is no easy process. The number of B-schools is on the increase and the investment is high. Make sure you do it with a full understanding and are confident of your choice. Different B-schools will be proposing different things so it is essential that you choose the PGDM Programme that best fits your needs without falling into any traps”.

His advice on the DO's and DON'Ts of choosing your PGDM in order to help you in such a crucial decision is shared below

  • 8.1 Consider the whole Package: When you choose a PGDM program of a B-school, please see that PGDM course is not just a series of back to back classes. So do look at the big picture. Remember that a PGDM is usually one programme among many within a school so do check if the foundation of the school is solid. If the school is well established and has a long history of producing quality graduates, the chances are that it will have a strong reputation among employers and solid corporate relations. Also check the quality and the dynamism of the alumni network.
  • 8.2 Consider the B-school’s Accreditations and Rankings: It provides an indication of quality. The accreditation/rankings will guarantee that the quality of the programme meets international standards so consider the added value of accreditation in the eyes of a recruiter. Use the rankings to check the criteria you feel are important to you and check the school’s general evolution over a period of time.
  • 8.3 Value the importance of Research Produced by the B-School: Research contributes to a school’s international visibility and keeps professors at the leading edge of knowledge in their field.
  • 8.4 Ensure that Core curriculum covers your needs: It is very important to establish the strength of the school’s foundations. Also remember that soft skills such as leadership and managerial competencies are an important part of curriculum and are dealt with in different ways. Also check that the specializations offered match your career goals.
  • 8.5 Batch Profile & Learning Methods: While the core curriculum may show similarities in different schools, check that there is a variety of learning methods. An MBA should not be a sit-back-and-take-notes course but a hands-on, discussion-based learning environment is very much needed. Choose a PGDM program having balanced mix of fresher and an experienced class profile so that you can learn from peers in group work. Talk to alumni and, if possible, visit the school and sit in the class for a couple of hours.
  • 8.6 Faculty with Industry Experience: Prefer a B-school whose faculty are not pure academics but who also give executive training courses in companies or who come from industry. This ensures a true understanding of what companies are seeking today. As you will be in class most days, consider the quality of the campus, both in terms of location and in terms of facilities. You should gather all the information before you make your final decision.

9. BIMTECH Offers Blended Classes
BIMTECH has started the blended classes for the students from September 2021 with necessary arrangements for the health and safety of students, faculty & staff following all COVID related protocols in the Offices, Classes, Hostel and Mess. Sharing the experience Prof Kushwaha says, “Experiences of the last two years have forced us to accept the fact that the challenges of a NEW NORMAL cannot be wished away. As a responsible business school, we have given utmost priority to the lives and well-being of our students, faculty, alumni and staff.”

10. Post Covid Initiatives at BIMTECH to Enhance Learning Experience
Some of the important changes and initiatives in context of post-Covid scenario being undertaken in the curriculum and teaching at BIMTECH, as shared by Prof Kushwaha, are

  • BIMTECH has shifted to Online teaching. The faculty has seamlessly shifted to appropriate technologies to intensify learning outcomes.
  • PGDM program of BIMTECH has introduced Business Vertical Specializations (BVS) in IT- ITES, Analytics and BFSI. The courses in Business Vertical Specialization focuses on the application aspects in each of the functional areas viz marketing, finance, HR Operations etc.
  • BIMTECH is updating curriculum in a systematic process with the active participation by faculty to ensure its relevance to the industry.
  • With the aim to orient students, faculty, and staff to become value-conscious human beings ready to face ‘Industry 4.0’ and capable of producing value for all stakeholders, BIMTECH decided to create a new centre named as ‘Centre for Business 4.0’. This Centre would, interalia, study the developments in Industry 4.0 and recommend activities to be taken up at BIMTECH in this regard. These activities include the identification of and suggestion for inclusion of new courses in the syllabi of different programs and the areas of research that should be undertaken.

Carrying the legacy of Birla Group, BIMTECH campus is known as Mini India due to cultural diversity which offers great peer learning opportunity. BIMTECH Greater Noida has introduced common application form to apply online to all the four PGDM programs. BIMTECH is one of the leading B-schools in India.
