CAT 2024 Dress Code - Check What Male and Female Candidates to Wear on Exam Day

CAT DRESS CODE GUIDELINE BY IIM CALCUTTA 
IIM Calcutta has shared instructions related to CAT 2024 dress code guideline in Admit Card. Any breach in following the CAT dress code may cost the candidates denial of entry to the test centre. Following the correct CAT 2024 Dress Code on CAT exam day will make sure that you appear in the exam without getting subjected to different type of problems before or during the CAT exam.

CAT EXAM DRESS CODE FOR FEMALE CANDIDATES 
Here are important instructions for CAT Exam Dress Code for women candidates.

1. NO JEWELLERY
Female candidates appearing in CAT 2024 should not wear any Jewellery or Metal Accessories such as necklaces, rings, or bracelets, that are typically made from or contain jewels and precious metal.

2. NO HENA/ MEHNDI 
Girl candidates appearing for CAT exam should not apply Hena or Mehndi on their palms.  

3. NO SHOES WITH THICK SOLES
Girl candidates should not wear shoes or sandals with thick soles to the CAT test centre. This rule applies to both female and male candidates. 

4. NO GARMENTS WITH MANY POCKETS 
Female candidates must not wear jackets or tops with many pockets. They should also avoid wearing pants or bottoms with many pockets. 

5. NO GARMENTS WITH LARGE BUTTONS
Candidates will not be allowed to wear garments with large buttons inside the CAT exam centre.

6. NO GOGGLE 
Female candidates are instructed not to wear Goggles inside the CAT Testing Hall. However, Optical specs used for eye sight are allowed. 

7. NO VISIBLE TATTOS 
Any Tattoo which is visible on hand and arms should be avoided by Female candidates who are appearing for CAT exam. If you already have a tattoo, cover it with proper clothes to avoid confusion at CAT exam center.

8. NO WATCH 
Do not wear Electronic Watch or Smart Watch. They are not allowed inside the exam hall. This rule applies for both genders. 

9. AVOID HEAVY MAKEUP
While there is no formal guideline on makeup for female from IIMs, you should avoid heavy make up while taking CAT exam. Apply light everyday makeup and cosmetics that you use every day.

Here are important instructions for CAT Exam Dress Code for male candidates.

1. NO JEWELLERY
Male candidates appearing in CAT 2024 should not wear any Jewellery or Metal Accessories.

BEST DRESS TO WEAR FOR CAT EXAM?
So, if you are wondering what is the right dress to wear for CAT exam, check these suggestions from past CAT toppers. 

1. WEAR SIMPLE CLOTHES 
Past CAT toppers recommend that you should wear simple and relaxed clothes that feel comfortable with while taking the exam. Avoid new clothes and wear clothes that you have used for atleast a few days. Wearing clothes with a few pockets allow easy access to the exam centers and saves time during frisking at the entry gates.  

2. WEAR WARM CLOTHES IF REQUIRED. 
Socks, plain pullovers, sweaters, cardigans are allowed in the CAT exam centers. So make sure you wear them if required. It is always a good idea to have an additional layer of cloth, like a simple jacket, that can be removed easily if required. 

If any candidate is using metal implant, pacemaker, he/she will have to bring a supporting medical certificate of the same to the test centre.

CAT Slot 1 Dress Code
You need to report at CAT centre at 7 AM. The States like Delhi and areas of NCR, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Punjab, Western UP, parts of Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh among others not only have very low temperature in morning hours but are also suffering from Smog causing low visibility. So wear warm but simple pullovers without deep pockets. Start early and allow sufficient extra time to reach the CAT Centre as the visibility may be low in morning. 

CAT Slot 2 Dress Code
The reporting time is 11 AM. The cold is not so much and visibility has also improved. You may opt for dress code according for CAT Slot 2.

CAT Slot 2 Dress Code
The reporting time for Slot-3 is in afternoon at 3 PM. You should be ready for a dip in temperature as the exam goes by. So dress for 4-5 PM and not 1-2 PM when you start moving to the centre.
