Technical Glitch & Hack That Leaked CAT Answer Key
By following these simple instructions, candidates were able to see and download their CAT 2024 answer key and response sheet on Nov 29 till afternoon…
1. Visit https://iimcat.ac.in/
2. Log in using your credentials
3. View Page Source: Once logged in, press Ctrl + U (on Windows/Linux) or Cmd + Option + U (on Mac) to open the page's source code.
4. Reload the Page and Search: After the page reloads, press Ctrl + F (or Cmd + F on Mac) to open the search bar.
5. Search for “digialm”: Type digialm into the search bar to locate the relevant part of the page's code.
6. Select the Link: Look for a link starting with https and ending with .html in the search results.
7. Copy and Open the Link: Highlight and copy the full link. Open a new browser tab, paste the link into the address bar, and press Enter to access the page.
8. Candidates could then download their Answer Key.
Media, Coaching Companies, Youtubers Join the Party
As students starting posting their answer keys on social media, soon, media and coaching centre latched on to the story and announced the release of CAT Answer Key.
Many coaching companies went a step further! They created videos asking students to follow above method and then copy paste the URL on their website to automatically calculate their score, and percentile! A simple search on youtube will show up many such videos.
IIM Calcutta Responds
While thousands of candidates could see their documents, as more candidates started to login to cat website, by late afternoon IIMs realized the glitch and stopped the access. But by then it was too late as popular media outlets like Business Today and numerous others had published stories with headlines like “CAT 2024 Answer Key Released”. Check image below.
On backfoot, by evening of November 29, IIM Calcutta decided to make a meek announcement on CAT website that Answer Key has not been officially released.
Official Release of CAT 2024 Answer Key Postponed to December 3
Media release dated Nov 29 on IIMcat.ac.in said, “Provisional Answer Keys: The release of the Provisional Answer Keys for CAT 2024 conducted on 24 November, 2024 is scheduled on 3 December, 2024.”
IIM Calcutta also released Objection Management window dates.

What Happens Next…Students at a Loss
