Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), one of the highly ranked dream B schools in India has well laid out its admission criteria for MBA (International Business) 2019-21 batch at its Delhi, Kolkata and recently launched Kakinada (AP) campuses. IIFT conducts its own entrance exam for admission to all the three campuses for flagship MBA (IB) programme. The last date to apply for IIFT entrance exam is September 24, 2018. Application fee is Rs.1650/-. IIFT will conduct the admission test on December 2, 2018 in paper pen mode.

IIFT is a deemed to be University and is also closely linked with Ministry of Commerce. It enjoys top rankings among the management institutes in India. Key parameters in IIFT Admission Criteria 2019-21 are based on IIFT exam score – overall as well as sectional. Past trends reflect that even a 40 to 50 percent score in IIFT entrance exam awards a high percentile of 70 to 90 and the admission cut off also lies within this range.

IIFT offers a diverse portfolio of long term management programmes in International Business - 2 years full time MBA (International Business) at New Delhi, Kolkata and Kakinada campuses; 3 year MBA (International Business) (Part-Time), New Delhi and Kolkata campuses; Executive Masters in International Business, New Delhi; Certificate Programme in Export Management, New Delhi.

It is mandatory for the candidates who wish to pursue MBA (International Business) from IIFT to register and apply for IIFT 2018 entrance exam before September 24, 2018 and must appear in the IIFT entrance exam on December 2, 2018. IIFT Admission Eligibility

  1. IIFT eligibility criteria require that the candidate must hold a recognized bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (in case of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category, the eligibility criterion is relaxed to 45%
  2. The candidate should appear in IIFT 2018 entrance exam and must score minimum prescribed sectional and overall score to become eligible for admission at IIIFT (MBA IB) 2019-21
  3. If the candidate is awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence to determine PGP admission eligibility would be based on the equivalence certified by the institution/university from where the bachelor's degree is obtained. In case the institution/university does not have any scheme for converting the CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by IIFT by dividing the obtained CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant by 100 to confirm the Admission eligibility of the candidate. 
  4. A candidate appearing for the final year bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results is also eligible to apply for IIFT Admission 2019-21.
  5.  It is mandatory for a final year student, who is provisionally considered eligible by IIFT and offered admission, to submit the mark-sheet and degree certificate of the final year bachelor's degree examination on or before October 7, 2019
  6.  Admission of the candidate who joins the programme on provisional basis but fails to obtain minimum percentage in the Bachelor’s degree examination will be automatically cancelled

IIFT Admission Criteria
IIFT Admission Criteria 2019-21 is a two step process - shortlisting criteria for GD-PI-WAT on the basis of IIFT entrance exam score and the Final admission selection Criteria based on performance in GD-PI-WAT, Academics, Work experience and IIFT MBA entrance exam scores.

  1. IIFT Shortlisting Criteria
    The first part of IIFT Admission criteria is the shortlisting criteria before final selection round. IIFT will shortlist the candidates on the basis of IIFT 2019 Entrance test scores for final selection round for MBA (IB) 2019-21 batch.
  • The shortlisting by IIFT will be done for all the three IIFT campuses located at Delhi, Kolkata and Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh)
  • IIFT will decide the minimum section wise and overall cut off in its entrance exam at the time of shortlisting.
  • Past trends indicate that a raw score of 40+ out of 100 can be the minimum required score for the IIFT shortlisting for MBA (IB) 2019-21 batch
  • If the candidate does not score minimum prescribed percentile in IIFT 2018 entrance exam, he/she will not be considered for shortlisting for final selection stage.
  1. IIFT Final Admission Selection Round Criteria
  • All the shortlisted candidates are eligible to participate in Final selection round for admission to MBA (IB) 2019-21 at IIFT
  • Final Selection Round will consist of Writing Skills Assessment, Group Discussion and Interview
  • It will be applicable equally for admission to Delhi, Kolkata and Kakinada Campuses
  • On the basis of performance in GD-PI-WAT, IIFT Entrance test score, Academics, Work experience and other parameters final admission offer will be made to the candidates in April/May 2019

IIFT Admission Cut Off  

  • IIFT Cutoff 2019 is based on past trends and may go slightly up or down as compared to 2018
  • Only the candidates above the minimum cut-offs in the IIFT 2018 sectional percentile ranks, the overall percentile rank and obtaining a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of  IIFT 2018 entrance exam will be considered for all the subsequent stages.
  • These are cut-offs used for shortlisting the candidates for final selection round
  • The actual IIFT entrance exam score cut-offs for those who are called for interview could be higher
  • IIFT shortlists the candidates more than 5 times of the intake at its different campuses

IIFT Admission Process
IIFT Admission process for its all the three campuses remains the same. IIFT admission process is based on the IIFT Entrance exam score, academic performance and performance in final admission process. Relevant Work Experience is also awarded due weightage in final selection process at IIFT.

Following steps are included in the IIFT Admission process:

Step 1: The candidate must apply before September 24 and appear in the IIFT entrance exam on December 2, 2018. IIFT admission exam is a paper based multiple choice objective type written test (in English) of 2 hours. It consists of questions on English Grammar, Vocabulary and Comprehension, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation and Quantitative Analysis.

The applicant should score the minimum required sectional and overall percentile in IIFT 2018 entrance exam to be considered for shortlisting for admission by IIFT

Step 2: Candidates are short-listed for Group Discussion (GD), Writing Skill Assessment (WSA), and  Personal Interview (PI) from among the candidates who have a valid IIFT 2018 entrance exam score and who satisfy the IIFT eligibility criteria for the MBA (IB) admission. 

IIFT will identify candidates around 5 times of the intake for shortlisting for the final admission selection round

Step 3: IIFT will conduct final admission selection process in January/February 2019 at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai. Candidates who opt for IIFT entrance written test centre at Allahabad, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Guwahati, Indore, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kochi, Nagpur or Visakhapatnam need to select one of the  specified centres for Writing Skills Assessment, GD and Interview

Step 4: After the GD-PI-WAT round, final admission offers will be made in April/May 2019 by IIFT to successful candidates. The final selection is based on performance in final selection round, Performance in past academics, Performance in IIFT entrance exam, Quality of Work Experience among others


  • IIFT Fee structure for 2019-21 batch is based on last year’s fee
  • Exact amount of tuition fee and other charges, applicable for MBA(IB) 2019-21 batch will be informed to the candidates at the time of sending the admission offer letters in April 2019. The increase in IIFT fee has remained moderate over the years
  • IIFT fee includes tuition, computer facility, internet, library, alumni and IMF (student body) fee charges
  • The students of SC, ST and PWD category are given 50% concession on tuition fee
  • Foreign Nationals and NRI Students will pay the annual tuition fee along with other charges in a single installment at the time of admission in the first year and by the start of second year. The fee for the 2018-20 batch under this category is US$30,000 per year and other charges of Rs.32,500 for first year and Rs.22,500 in the second year.
  • Indian candidates can pay the annual tuition fee in three instalments

IIFT Delhi Campus

  • IIFT Delhi has two campuses one is located in Qutub Institutional Area overlooking green ridge and historical Qutub Minar
  • Another campus of IIFT, spread over 5-6 acres, is located at Maidan Garhi, New Delhi. It is under construction and will be operational soon.
  •  The Delhi campus of IIFT is picturesque with artistically designed buildings and well-maintained plush gardens
  • Delhi campus is spread over 6.5 acres of land and houses two academic blocks and two residential blocks for students and visiting faculty
  • Facilities available on the IIFT Delhi campus include, fully AC Lecture halls with audio-visual aids, conference halls for round-table conferences, Auditorium of 450 seating capacity, two computer labs, indoor games, sports ground and residential facilities for the students.
  • IIFT Delhi campus is fully wi-fi enabled

IIFT Kolkata Campus

  • IIFT Kolkata campus is located in its own premises in East Kolkata off EM Bypass in an area of 7 acres.
  • The campus is developed as a green and fully integrated campus with independent blocks for academic, administration and student living areas with all modern amenities.
  • Kolkata campus houses three water bodies to maintain ecological diversity with enough greenery.
  • The campus consists of centrally air-conditioned modern lecture halls, syndicate rooms, common area, auditorium, open air theatre, common courtyard in its academic and administration blocks.

IIFT Kakinada Campus

  • IIFT will be functioning from its premises in Kakinada subject to clearance from regulatory authorities
  • A plot of about 25 acres has been allotted to IIFT by Government of Andhra Pradesh in Kakinada
  • The IIFT campus at Kakinada with similar facilities as at Delhi & Kolkata Campus, including residential provisions is expected to be ready in three years
  • Till then IIFT will be functioning from a rented but spacious premises suited for its programme needs in Kakinada

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was established in 1963 as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry to contribute in the skill building for the external trade sector of India.
