IIM Ahmedabad One Year MBA (PGPX) Placement Registers 50 Percent Drop in Highest Salary; Average Salary Dips

IIM Ahmedabad one year MBA (PGPX), a dream management program for working professionals which is compatible with top B-schools in the world, has seen substantial fall in highest salary offered in Placement 2024. As compared to placement 2022, Average salary of PGPX in placement 2024 has also decined.

The audited PGPX placement report 2024 released on August 30, 2024 by IIM Ahmedabad, following the conclusion of IPRS standard audit, reflects compensation packages to the students of its PGPX program.  The participants of the 18th batch of PGPX comprised of candidates from diverse industries and functions with experience ranging from 4 years to 15 years. In the placement report IIM Ahmedabad has reported sharp decline in the highest pay package. The highest pay package in IIM Ahmedabad PGPX placements has so far been rising during past six years and this is the first time that it has declined.

Breaking the consistent trend of rising highest salary which has been going up from 54.60 LPA in 2018 to Rs.1.08 Crore in 2023, this year IIM Ahmedabad has registered 50 percent decline in highest salary which has gone down at Rs.54.80 LPA from Rs.1.08 Crore last year.

The table below reflects periodical increase and decrease in average salary. However, as compared to average salary in placement 2022 the average salary in 2024 has gone down substantially

As is evident from the analysis of IIM Ahmedabad PGPX Placement data of last seven years, there remained some fluctuations off and on over the years. However, the overall trend has remained of rising highest salary. If we compare the highest salary of 2018 with 2024, there is hardly any increase in real terms given the declining value of currency. Similarly, the highest salary six year back of 2019 is much higher than the highest salary of 2024. Is this most sought after highly ranked PGPX  programme of IIM Ahmedabad is losing its craze among recruiters?

Interestingly, out of the batch of 147 eligible students for placements 2024, 126 students participated in PGPX placement process 2024 and only 121 students have accepted the placement offers. 105 marquee recruiters made 150 placement offers to IIM Ahmedabad PGPX 2024 batch. On the brighter side, IIM Ahmedabad has registered higher Average and Median salary for PGPX 2024 batch.
