8. IIM Trichy Eligibility Criteria 2024

• 8.1 IIM Trichy Eligibility criteria require that the candidate must hold a bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years duration after class 12, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (in case of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category, the eligibility criterion is relaxed to 45%
• 8.2 One of the most important points in IIM Tiruchirappalli Admission Eligibility criteria is that apart from a recognized graduate degree, the candidate should appear in CAT 2023 exam and must score minimum prescribed sectional and overall score to be considered for shortlisting
• 8.3 If the candidate is awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence to determine PGP admission eligibility would be based on the equivalence certified by the institution/university from where the bachelor's degree is obtained. In case the institution/university does not have any scheme for converting the CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by IIM Trichy by dividing the obtained CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant by 100 to confirm the Admission eligibility of the candidate. 
• 8.4 The candidates appearing for the final year bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply for IIM Tiruchirappalli Admission 2024-26. Such a candidate must produce a certificate from the principal/head of the department/ registrar/director of the institution/university certifying that the candidate is currently in the final year or is awaiting final results and has obtained at least 50% marks or equivalent (45% in case of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category) based on latest available grades/marks.
• 8.5 IIM Tiruchirapplli Eligibility further clarifies that such a candidate, if selected, will not be eligible for the IIM Trichy admission unless he/she submits a certificate latest by June 30, 2024 from the principal/head of the department/registrar/director of the institution/university (issued on or before June 30, 2024) stating that they have completed all the requirements (the result may, however, be awaited) for obtaining the bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate.
• 8.6 It is mandatory for a final year student, who is provisionally considered eligible by IIM Trichy and offered admission, to submit the mark-sheet and degree certificate of the final year bachelor's degree examination held on or before June 30, 2024.  The deadline to submit the mark-sheet and the certificate is December 31, 2024. 

9. IIM Trichy Admission Application Process 2024: How to Apply?
Submission of Application for IIM Tiruchirappalli Admission 2024 is a two step process. The first one is to apply for CAT 2023 based on which IIM Trichy will consider you for next round of admission process and second is to register separately for IIM-CAP 2024 for IIM Trichy admission 2024. Let us understand each step:

Step-1: CAT 2023 registration process had started from August 2, 2023. Candidates had to apply for CAT 2023 by the last date of September 21, 2023. Check below the key points in IIM Trichy admission application process through CAT 2023:

Step-2:  In January 2024 last week, after declaration of CAT 2024 exam result, registration for Common Admission Process (CAP) will open. You need to register for CAP round to participate in PI-WAT process at the official IIM CAP website.

11. IIM Trichy Cut off
IIM Trichy Cut offs 2024 are liberalised for admission. Only the candidates above the minimum cut-offs in the CAT 2023 sectional percentile ranks, the overall percentile rank and obtaining a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of CAT-2023 are considered for shortlisting.

The table below indicates the minimum performance expected from candidates to be shortlisted for the PI. However, achieving the cut-off percentile in CAT is a necessary but not sufficient condition for being shortlisted for CAP 2024 by IIM Trichy.

The actual cut-off percentiles for the 2024-26 batch may be higher. IIM Tiruchirappalli will decide the number of candidates to be called for the PI for each category, depending on which the cut off percentiles can also change.

12. IIM Tiruchirappalli Admission Criteria 2024: Exam Accepted, Selection Process
IIM Trichy Admission 2024 is a five-stage process

• Stage 1: Shortlist Release for CAP 2024 Round after CAT Result declaration
• Stage-2: Conduct of PA Round comprising Personal Interview (PI). The PA process will be common to IIMs which are participating in the Common Admission Process (CAP) 2024
• Stage-3: The Final Selection List based on CAT score, CAP Score and other parameters
• Stage-4: Offer for Provisional Admission for the MBA 2024-26 batch
• Stage-5: Reporting for joining the MBA 2024-26 program

Stage-I: IIM Trichy Shortlisting Criteria 2024
IIM Trichy will shortlist the candidates on the basis of CAT 2024 score, for final selection round as under:

• The shortlisting for final selection round in IIM Tiruchirappalli Admission Criteria awards maximum weight to CAT 2023 score.
• The candidate must have scored minimum sectional percentile of 73 in each of the three sections of CAT 2023 – Quantitative Aptitude' (QA), ‘Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning' (DILR) and ‘Verbal and Reading Comprehension' (VRC)
• A candidate must have scored minimum overall percentile of 94 in CAT 2023
• If the candidate does not score minimum prescribed percentile in CAT 2023, he/she will not be considered for shortlisting for final selection stage.

• IIM Trichy Admission Committee decides the number of candidates who would be shortlisted for PA round on the basis of criteria prepared for each category
• All the Candidates shortlisted for PA process have to attend PI – WAT which is a common process for all the participating IIMs

Stage-2: IIM Trichy Final Admission Selection Process: CAP Round

• All the shortlisted candidates should participate in Personal Appearance (PA) round for admission to IIM Trichy
• Final Selection Round 2023 for IIM Trichy Admission consists of Personal Interview (PI) & Writing Ability Test (WAT).
• The final selection PA round for IIM Trichy Admission will be common for the IIMs who are participating in the Common Admission Process (CAP) 2024.

Stage-3: The Final Selection List based on CAT score, CAP Score and other parameters
The scores obtained by the candidate in PA process of CAP 2024 would be considered for preparing the merit list

Stage-4: Offer for Provisional Admission for the MBA 2024-26 batch
IIM Trichy will issue provisional admission offer on registered e-mail ID of the selected candidates after generating the final merit list in April last week/May first week 2024. You need to accept the admission offer online and should pay the admission fee by the stipulated date to avoid cancellation of candidature.

Stage-5: Reporting for joining the MBA 2024-26 program
IIM Trichy will notify and will send the communication to report at the institute to complete the joining formalities. The academic session is likely to commence in the first week of July.

IIM Trichy Now offers MBA Degree instead of Diploma
After implementation of IIM Act 2017, IIM Tiruchirappalli has started awarding MBA degree to its students. The two-year Post-graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) at IIM Trichy is recognized by Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to a Master’s Degree of an Indian University for the purpose of admission to higher studies.

13. IIM Trichy Admission 2024: Step by Step Process
Following steps are included in the IIM Tiruchirappalli Admission process:

Step 1: The candidate must have appeared and scored the minimum required sectional and overall percentile in CAT 2023, a major component for Shortlisting candidates for CAP 2024. Category wise short-lists of the candidates are prepared for CAP round from among the candidates who have a valid CAT-2023 score, who have applied to the programme at the time of submitting the CAT 2023 application form and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme of IIM Trichy.

Step 2: Shortlisted Candidates have to attend Common Admission Process (CAP) 2024 for the participating IIMs. CAP 2024 will begin in February 2024 and will consist of  Personal Interview (PI). Candidates not meeting the minimum performance in PI will not be considered for the final selection. The PI would be conducted Online. The exact date for PI will be communicated to the shortlisted candidates by CAP coordinating IIM.

Step 3: After the CAP score is received by IIM Trichy, final merit list will be prepared and admission offers will be made by IIM Trichy to successful candidates. The final selection is based on composite score of the candidates. This includes performance in CAT, performance in CAP, academics, work experience, diversity among others. Category wise merit list will be generated based on weightages awarded to various components. 

Step 4: Final Admission Offer will be made to the candidates in the last week of April/first week of May 2024 on the basis of Final Merit Score and will be available on IIM Tiruchirappalli website. 

14. IIM Trichy Campuses at Trichy & Chennai
IIM Trichy has two campuses. The main campus is at Tiruchirappalli which offers flagship 2 years full time Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) and Post Graduate Programme in Management-Human Resources (PGPM-HR). The programmes are recognized as equivalent to a Master’s Degree of an Indian University for the purpose of admission to higher studies, Association of Indian Universities.

The other campus of IIM Trichy is at Chennai that offers Post Graduate Programme in Business Management (PGPBM) leading to MBA degree. The PGPBM is meant for working professionals only and the classes are conducted on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

IIM Trichy has moved to its newly built 175 acre permanent campus with world class amenities. The new campus is built on the land area of 175 acres at a cost of Rs.772 crores and was constructed in a record period of 30 months. It is located at Trichy-Pudukkottai road near Chinna Suriyur village. The Hostels at Campus can accommodate 400 students and include staff and faculty residences as well as recreation club.
