IIMV to Award MBA Degree
The Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) of IIM Visakhapatnam is a master’s level programme. With effect from 2018, IIM Visakhapatnam has started awarding MBA degree to the PGP students instead of diploma. The 2 years Post Graduate Programme (PGP) at IIM Visakhapatnam has been accorded equivalence with Master’s degree of an Indian University by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) for the purpose of admission to higher studies. IIMV provides an opportunity to select electives in the first year of PGP.

Admission Criteria identify Most Promising Candidates

IIM Visakhapatnam Admission Criteria 2019-21 seek to identify the most promising candidates for the PGP batch of 2019. The Institute uses parameters like academic performance in 10th standard examination, 12th standard examination and Bachelor’s degree examination, candidates’ scores in CAT, as well as performance in Personal Interview and Written Ability Test to judge the suitability of candidates for the PGP program. Besides, relevant work experience, if any, is also given weight in the selection.

Less Weightage to CAT 2018 Score
IIM Visakhapatnam uses the CAT 2018 score to establish the minimum level of proficiency that is expected from the candidate in respective areas as indicated by section wise minimum scores in the CAT. While in the shortlisting process, CAT 2018 score is awarded 40% weight, in the final selection criteria, the weight for CAT 2018 exam score is only 25%.  Multiple criteria are used to arrive at a composite score while making final admission offer. IIM Visakhapatnam admission criteria 2019 will adopt a phased selection process and the selection criteria are applied in three phases. The admission criteria , parameters and weights used are uniform for all categories of candidates.

It is mandatory for the candidates who wish to pursue MBA from IIM Visakhapatnam to register and apply for CAT 2018 before September 26, 2018 and must appear in the CAT 2018 exam on November 25, 2018. A balanced score in all the three sections of CAT 2018 and good academic profile is the key to get admission in IIM Visakhapatnam.

The two-year, full-time, residential programme PGP 2019-21 at Indian Institute of management (IIM) Visakhapatnam is designed to equip students to take on leadership roles in an increasingly complex and dynamic global scenario. The programme lasts six trimesters, spread over two years, with a summer project intermediary.

IIM Visakhapatnam Admission Eligibility

  1. IIM Visakhapatnam eligibility criteria require that the candidate must hold a bachelor's degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (in case of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category, the eligibility criterion is relaxed to 45%
  2. The candidate should appear in CAT 2018 exam and must score minimum prescribed sectional and overall score to become eligible for admission at IIM Visakhapatnam
  3. If the candidate is awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence to determine PGP admission eligibility would be based on the equivalence certified by the institution/university from where the bachelor's degree is obtained. In case the institution/university does not have any scheme for converting the CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by IIM Visakhapatnam by dividing the obtained CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant by 100 to confirm the Admission eligibility of the candidate.
  4. A candidate appearing for the final year bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results is also eligible to apply for IIM Visakhapatnam Admission 2019-21. 5. IIM Visakhapatnam Eligibility criterion further clarifies that such a candidate, if selected, will become ineligible for the IIM Visakhapatnam admission unless he/she submits a certificate latest by June 30, 2019 from the principal/head of the department/registrar/director of the institution/university (issued on or before June 30, 2019) stating that they have completed all the requirements (the result may, however, be awaited) for obtaining the bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate.
