Former Dean of IIFT Delhi, Prof Rakesh Mohan Joshi, a distinguished management academician, has taken over as the Director of Indian Institute of Plantation Management (IIPM), Bangalore, an autonomous sectoral B-school under Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Prof Joshi has been part of many policy making bodies including as the Chairman of the UGC Committee for Framing the Regulations for Foreign Educational Institutes Entry and Operations in India.

Distinguished management academician and former Dean of IIFT Delhi, Prof Rakesh Mohan Joshi has taken over as the Director of Indian Institute of Plantation Management (IIPM), Bangalore, an autonomous sectoral B-school under Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Prof Joshi has been part of many policy making bodies including as the Chairman of the ‘UGC Committee for Framing the Regulations for Foreign Educational Institutes’ Entry and Operations’ in India.

Prof Joshi was also a Member of the UGC-Ministry of Education Expert Group to Implement New Education Policy 2020. He is nominated by the President of India as Member, University Court, Delhi University. He is an Independent Director on the Board of Ramagundam Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd, a JV of NFL, EIL & FCIL; Management Council Member, All India Management Association (AIMA). He had been on the Board of Management, Rajasthan Technical University, IIFT, and Board of Governors, Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), besides some other universities.

Established in 1993, IIPM Bengaluru is an autonomous organization of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, engaged in management education, research, training and consultancy with Centres at Jorhat (Assam) and Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh).

The institute conducts highly sought after 24 months Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) on Agribusiness & Plantation Management (ABPM), Food Processing & Business Management (FPBM), and Agricultural Export & Business Management (FPBM) focused at agro-exports and processed food sector.

Since its inception, the Institute has been conducting Capacity Building & Management Development Programs and undertaking Research & Consultancy assignments for the benefit of the stakeholders of the sector. The institute has trained over 47,000 executives, managers, planters, scientists, commodity boards officials, and students from India and several foreign countries.

The Institute has 20 core faculty and 10 visiting faculty. Speaking about IIPM, Prof Joshi said, “IIPM is one of the few management institutes in the country that works in close collaboration with industry stakeholders providing high quality training, research and long-duration programs for participants from India and foreign countries.” He added, “With Institute’s rapid adaptation with fast emerging business realities, it is poised to leapfrog rapidly to transform itself with cutting edge research and globally competitive management professionals.”
