MBA Colleges: Other Admission Components along with CAT Scores

- Your Academic Profile: 90 percent & above marks from class 10 onwards can get you a weightage of 20-30 percent
- Work Experience: A weightage of 5 to 10 percent is awarded for relevant work experience of 2-3 years, in final selection process
- Non-Engineering Back Ground: Academic diversity also helps you to get additional weightage of 2 to 5 percent in getting final admission offer
- Gender Diversity: If you are a female, all the top MBA colleges will award you a weightage between 3 and 5 percent over and above other parameters in final admission process.

How to Check & Choose MBA Option?
Despite having good CAT percentile, you may not be able to decide which, out of the MBA colleges accepting 50 – 60 percentile in CAT, should be chosen. Before making your decision, you should consider the following:
- Approvals & Recognitions: The MBA/PGDM should be AICTE Approved or UGC recognized
- Program Fee: There are good MBA colleges with low fee of Rs.75000 to Rs.3 lakhs, like GGSIPU, Ambedkar University Delhi, DSE Delhi among others. If your CAT percentile matches the requirement, pursuing your MBA from such institutes is no different than pursuing it from top MBA colleges. Higher the fee bigger will be hole in your pocket.
- Programs Offered: Better to check the programs offered by the B-school before submitting the application for admission. If you wish to do MBA in Finance and the institute does not offer it, there is no use applying for admission
- Placements: Choose the best MBA college which has a consistently good placement record and a rising average salary.
- Faculty: The institute with highly qualified and research oriented faculty should be the first choice.
- Infrastructure: The institute campus must be good and should be well equipped with latest study material, library, wi-fi and should be conducive for education.
- Students’ Hostel: There are many IIMs and other MBA colleges which do not have their own hostels at the campus. It reduces the peer learning. So choose the MBA college with hostel available at the campus.
CAT 2023 test takers searching for MBA admission while looking for the suitable MBA colleges where they can apply, should refer the above relevant information on how good the B-school is alongwith the CAT score requirement for shortlisting.
