Master of Business Administration program at IIM Amritsar is a full-time two-year residential program in General Management with a summer internship in between. IIM Amritsar MBA program imparts foundational functional knowledge of management in its first year and offers integrative and specialization courses in the second year. The program offers opportunity to develop global perspective thorough international market exploration.
The First Year of the program offers a 2-week compulsory preparatory program for selected students to enhance their readiness for the MBA program; an Orientation program to familiarize students to the IIM way of learning and acquaints them with the infrastructure, services, and student activities at IIM Amritsar. The first year courses are compulsory and provide basic conceptual knowledge and analytical tools in different functional areas of management. All students undergo eight to ten weeks of summer internship after first year of the program. Summer internship helps students to apply their first year learning by doing organizationally sponsored projects. Student performance in their summer internships often result in final placement offers.
Second year of MBA comprises of integrative and elective courses in various areas of specialization spread out over the fourth, fifth, and sixth terms of the program. Students also have the option of subscribing to a course in international market exploration where they are exposed to businesses and markets in a select group of foreign countries. Students can choose courses from among areas of specialization like Marketing, Finance and Accounting, Information Systems and Analytics, Production and Quantitative Methods, Human Resources Management, Business Strategy, Economics, Communication, and Organizational Behavior

Application process for admission at IIM Amritsar opens with the start of CAT registration process. Candidates have to apply for CAT by the last date. There is no need to apply and pay separately for IIM Amritsar Admission at this stage.
Admission/Selection Process for Candidates for MBA program at IIM Amritsar is through CAT Exam and PI round. The selection of the candidates for admission to the MBA at IIM Amritsar is a three-step process- Pre shortlisting, Shortlisting, and participation in PI round
In the first step, candidates are screened as per the IIM Amritsar admission policy on performance in CAT exam and in the second step they are considered on various parameters for shortlisting for Personal Interview (PI) from among the candidates who have a valid CAT score, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme. After the PI round, IIM Amritsar prepares merit list for final admission as per its final selection weightages. Detailed Admission process is as below:
